Biography Bill Wich
I was 36 years old when my dad disowned me because I was gay
Among his 10 children, of which I was number 8, I had been told that I was one of my dads favorites. I was Co-captain of the high school football team and president of the National Honor Society. I had an Aerospace Engineering degree from Notre Dame. I had a good career at Ford Motor Co. and Toyota, USA. I had two children and a wife. And now, I was just gay and no longer welcome in my dad’s house.
My older brother, who had done a lot of personal work, suggested that I join ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) and start dealing with my “issues”. 4 years later, he practiced his hypnotherapy on me.
So it was in June of 1990, at the age of 40, when I seemed to stay in some kind of altered state for a full 2 weeks. During that time, I loved everybody and knew everything. Any question I had, I would write it down and within 5 minutes the answer would come through. I would write that answer down and another question would naturally follow and then another answer and on and on it went for 14 days and nights. I didn’t sleep. I didn’t eat. What I did do was fill 10 pads of paper with new insights. Unusual, synchronistic events were non-stop during what I now call my “Cosmic Two Weeks”. I experienced what Steven Covey might call a Paradigm Shift and what I call my spiritual awakening.
It was during this experience that I realized how there was so much more to life than I ever imagined or could have imagined. I simply could not believe that I had never been about told about any of this.
The effect this had on my life was similar to what I’ve read happens to many people following a Near Death Experience. It changed everything about how I viewed the world and my role in it. During these two weeks, I also connected with an inner guide who I called Angel – who looked to me, much like a cloud of light.
Angel became my teacher and guide for the next 20+ years.
When my cosmic two weeks finally subsided, I decided to figure out:
1. What happened to me?
2. How I could get back to that place of Love and Wisdom?
3. How could I help others get to that place? And,
4. How could I make sense of this thing called Spirituality and explain it to others?
In college, I had done some basic computer programming before they invented software to do it for you. So I approached these 4 goals in a left brained fashion, using my background in engineering and computer programming, and in a right brained fashion using the strong intuitional guidance from “Angel”.
In my research to better understand what happened to me, I read hundreds of books, took a lot of workshops, got my hypnotherapy certification and kept simplifying and synthesizing everything I learned.
My first discovery was that when people had this type of experience in the past they were most likely referred to a mental institution. I knew that I did not have a breakdown. I KNEW I had a breakthrough.
Luckily I ran into a number of authors who validated and gave language to much of what I was picking up intuitively – men like Ken Wilber, Steven Covey, Buckminster Fuller and Nassim Harrimein. I found I was especially attracted to authors who synthesized the work of others and I ended up synthesizing the synthesizers.
I started to develop my own paradigm or worldview on how the universe works. I now call this paradigm: Paradigm Omega.
When I started to read these authors and other books, I understood about 30% of what they were saying. I then discovered a simple 8-step process which I’ve found to be a fundamental way to explain much of how the universe works.
After I discovered just this one part of this new PARADIGM OMEGA, I coud understand about 80% of twhat these books and authors were sayimg.
In 1991, I joined the ManKind Project, a men’s group that does initiations all over the world. I became a leader in the work, became the leader body chair, the curriculum chair and created and conducted advanced trainings to share and teach what I was learning. I’ve worked with men, women, teenage boys and for the past ten years, men in prison.
In Folsom prison they gave me the name of Jeremiah, the weeping profit.
My journey towards my initial goals has taken me down 3 basic paths:
a. Healing and Transformation – Mainly experiential group trainings
b. Context and Theory of Everything – mainly intuition validated by books
c. Curriculum, Culture and Organization – participating in the growth and decline of organizations
Each path would come to a final piece of the puzzle only to open up to a whole new puzzle appearing – this happened over and over again until now. The three paths have now come together and all the new pieces fit nicely into one coherent context.
I believe that there is significant value in what I’ve discovered and developed along this journey and I’m looking forward to sharing it with the world.
