Description

The English language can be difficult when it comes to pronunciation, but listening to a native speaker and learning some simple rules can help you gain confidence and be more easily understood in conversations.

Teacher Amanda designed this 5-unit course for English language learners who want to learn and practice American English pronunciation with a native speaker. Students should be at least at a "high beginner" level to understand the materials. In addition to advanced beginners, intermediate students will benefit from this course. Advanced students, as well, will benefit from "fine tuning" their pronunciation skills.

The course covers:

-vowel sounds (sounds covered by a, e, i, o, u, and related sounds and letters, such as y)

-consonant sounds (single consonant sounds, blends, and dipthongs - which is when sounds are combined)

-syllables and word stress (stressing the correct part of a word)

-rhythm and intonation (stressing the correct part of a sentence; varying your voice for different types of statements, like questions or exclamations)

-thought groups (conveying meaning when speaking...it's more than just pronouncing a word!)

Each lesson includes:

  • A text study guide (in PDF format)

  • Audio of Teacher Amanda reading the study guide

  • Video version of the lesson

  • Chances to practice, with answers!

Once you purchase the course, you have access to it forever.

Who this course is for:

  • High-beginner through intermediate English learners
  • People who want to improve their English pronunciation
