Description
This course is designed for beginning ESL students. In this course, students will learn basic and every day English vocabulary that will help them bring their English to the next level. Students will practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing while learning new words to help them join in every day conversations with native English speakers.
This course is hands-on. You will be using the new vocabulary right away through interactive activities, real world situations, quizzes, and tests.
Each section will have the following:
1. Pre-assessment quiz to see how much you know
2. Vocabulary: Learn the new words through pictures, sample sentences and speaking
3. Practice: This will include fill in the blanks, dictations, reading passages, speaking exercises, listening exercises, internet research, writing, and much more!
4. Review and Test: Review what you have learned and test yourself to see how well you know the new words

Instructor
Rebecca earned a degree in Journalism and Dance from SUNY Brockport and a Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from New York University. She also studied education in Ghana and China. She has taught English as a Second Language since 2006 when she moved to Japan. In Japan, she taught ages 2-80 at a language school. After teaching in Japan, she taught ESL at a public middle school/high school in China. After living abroad, she moved to Manhattan to teach ESL at a private language institute for adults. In 2009, she received a grant from CUNY and the Mayor’s Office of New York to develop curriculum for the We Are New York Project, which helps immigrants in the city learn English through television programming. In 2012, Rebecca became the Director of ESL at a private international school in NYC. Rebecca has taught thousands of students over the years and many of them have gone onto Ivy League schools.
