Description

Engineering economic analysis is used to answer many different questions.

• Which engineering projects are worthwhile?

• Which engineering projects should have a higher priority?

• How should the engineering project be designed?

This course is structured into four sections with 15 lectures, each covering a specific topic related to engineering economics.

Section 1: Introduction

In this section, you will identify the main objectives and the structure of “Economics Analysis for Irrigation Projects” course. You will know “What is Engineering Economy” and its analysis.

Section 2: Time Value of Money

In this section, you will learn about the time value of money concept, interest rate definition and types, the difference between simple, compound and discount interest rate, and how to represent the cash flow.

Section 3: Economic Evaluation of Alternatives

In this section, you will learn about the economic evaluation approach, the concept of life cycle costing, the present worth analysis, the equivalent uniform annual worth analysis, how to apply the rate of return method for one alternative and for more than one alternative, the benefit/cost ratio method, and the payback period method.
