Create shading surfaces to study how nearby buildings and trees cast shadows on a building model, rotate to true north, and analyze sun shading in Open Studio and SketchUp.
Import building data into Open Studio via the SketchUp plugin, then add epw weather data, verify si units, and load the library for accurate energy modelling.
Install weather data in OpenStudio by selecting EPW and design data files, creating a daily weather folder, and configuring calendar year and daylight saving settings.
Energy Plus is a whole building energy simulation program that engineers, architects, and researchers use to model both energy consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and plug and process loads and water use in buildings. OpenStudio is an open-source software development kit (SDK) for building energy modeling (BEM). The OpenStudio project includes a graphical application for creating and editing models, running simulations, and viewing results.
