Description
In our complete "Emotional Peace: Strategies For Mental Health and Wellness" course, students will be able to learn fundamental teachings about depression, anxiety, emotions, stress, wellness and how to deal with discomforts and interpersonal challenges
To really live a life filled with hope and freedom, you need to have an approach that puts your values into action while softening any discomfort you are experiencing.
This program uses concepts from proven strategies such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Peer Support, Occupational Therapy and my personal experience of successfully living with a bipolar condition.
While this course isn't therapy itself, it utilizes proven principles that can easily be discussed with a variety of counselors. It’s an approach that you customize so it is specific to your values and situation.
With Emotional Peace, you will learn skills and tools to successfully live a desired quality of life, even if you are experiencing discomfort. They are also the same tools I have used to progress from being a patient hospitalized with a severe depressive episode to being a licensed healthcare professional.
Plus, you'll have a template to customize your own plan from 3 simple steps...
Shift your relationship with your experience
Clarify your values
Develop a plan to implement those values into a lifestyle
With a customized plan you will be able to find fulfillment, even during times of adversity. It provides a series of 5-10 minute video lessons on skills like gratitude and acceptance, identifying life roles, and developing a financial framework. You can then customize them to your specific situation.
That’s it—it’s really that simple!
Reviews
Overall, the subject matter is amazing! I would definitely say that it's a good thing for counselors to get. Really, anyone in the field of behavioral health would benefit from it. This is definitely helpful information for people struggling with a numerous number of issues. Anything from psychiatric issues, trauma, or drug use as well.
As a matter of fact, this wouldn't even be out of place given in schools or as some type of in-service training for kids or something. Very easy to understand, digestible and relatable.

I have found Stephen's course to be extremely helpful and very accessible. I work with many clients who struggle with managing the challenges and discomforts in their lives. This course is informative, engaging, and best of all APPLICABLE. Stephen shares his real-life experiences and the tools he has used in his life with humor and honesty. These tools can be used with ease immediately after watching his 4–6-minute lessons. I can't wait to finish watching and bring these new tools to my clients. Thanks Stephen!

As someone who has had the privilege of working with and learning directly from Stephen Nawotniak, I can tell you, he lives what he teaches. Both authentic and practical, this is a truly great resource to have.
- Sarah M Detrick, MA, LMSW, Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology
Stephen shares his personal journey of self-discovery to make his coursework relatable. Through his own narrative, he is able to illustrate therapy techniques that make sense in a practical and useful way. Through the coursework, each concept builds on itself making it easy to learn and retain. This is a great course for a clinician to use in sessions or refer patients to so they may utilize this coursework between sessions or at termination of therapy.
Additionally, many of these teachings and concepts can be used by all individuals to deal with interpersonal challenges we all face in our daily lives.

Instructor
Stephen Nawotniak OTR/L has a Self Designed Masters Degree from Buffalo State College, a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from Utica College, and is a New York State Certified Peer Specialist
Starting in May of 2000, Steve completed an 8-month, non-motorized trek from Buffalo, NY to Key West, FL. He canoed across NY on the Erie Canal, sailed the Hudson River into New York City, hiked the Appalachian Trail to Roanoke, VA and biked to Key West, FL. Along the way he gave presentations to over 1000 youth on the values of volunteerism and education and completed over 230 hours of community service along the way. He studied the geology of the Eastern United States as part of his Self Designed Masters Degree. These studies complimented his Bachelors in Earth Science, Secondary Education.
Two years later, in August 2002, Steve was hospitalized for a week with a major depressive episode and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. From that point forward, Steve has spent his life learning how to live with his condition on the journey from hospitalized patient to licensed healthcare professional. Stephen started his company Compass Recovery Coaching, LLC to support people in developing hope and freedom around uncomfortable feelings and emotions.
Steve published the books Handbook for Healthy Living with a Mood Disorder and Bipolar Life Hacks: Keys to Loving Life with a Bipolar Disorder to share the skills and tools he uses daily to live, what he calls, a desired quality of life. Steve has spoken at various events including the International Association of Peer Specialists, The New York State Occupational Therapy Association, The Museum of disABILITY History and various colleges nationally and internationally to challenge the stigmas associated with mental health.
His Mom's Choice Award winning children’s book series Mubu the Morph speaks to the inner journey we all face as we discover our purpose. Mubu’s concept was generated from Steve’s personal experiences of his bipolar condition with his professional experiences as an Occupational Therapist.
Stephen currently lives in Buffalo, NY.
