Welcome to the course! In this opening lesson, we’ll explore what this course is about and why it matters right now. You’ll see how Generative AI is narrowing the gap between everyday investors and hedge fund professionals — making high-quality research, analysis, and decision-making faster and more accessible than ever. This introduction also outlines what you’ll learn, and how AI can help you build real conviction in your investment decisions for beginners.
In this lesson, I share my personal journey — from studying engineering at Caltech and earning my MBA at Columbia Business School, to working on Wall Street and managing money at hedge funds. You’ll hear how I struggled early after college, and how I eventually built real conviction in investing by studying as many past successful investment cases as possible after Columbia. Today, Generative AI is transforming that learning process — making deep analysis and insight far more accessible. This lesson lays the foundation for how all of us — regardless of background — can approach investing with clarity, confidence, and a repeatable framework.
Discover why investing is key to long-term financial freedom — and how to get started, even if you're brand new. You’ll learn the power of compounding, why starting early matters, and how ETFs make global investing simple. We’ll also introduce the concept of identifying high-reward, low-risk opportunities to grow wealth more efficiently.
Explore how SPY (S&P 500 ETF) compares to other asset classes like international equity, REITs, bonds, and crypto using Portfolio Visualizer. We’ll also review expert model portfolios and see how a simple SPY investment stacks up over time.
We’ll use Portfolio Visualizer to compare SPY’s performance against other major asset classes — including bonds, REITs, international stocks, and more.
Learn to spot opportunites with high upside potential and low risks. This approach works best when you’ve built strong conviction — which comes from studying 30–50 past investment successes to recognize similarities and act decisively when the right opportunities appear.
Most investors waste years chasing tips, following the crowd, or relying on surface-level analysis. This course will teach you to think and act like the world’s best hedge fund managers — and build a repeatable process for finding undervalued companies with 2–10x potential.
Drawing on my experience as a former top-tier hedge fund manager and graduate of Caltech and Columbia Business School, I’ll share the same frameworks used by elite funds such as Tiger Management and the Tiger Cubs to identify durable competitive advantages, calculate intrinsic value, and make high-conviction decisions.
By the end of this course, you won’t just know what to buy — you’ll understand why, and you’ll have the conviction to hold your winners through market noise.
You’ll walk away with:
A hedge-fund–level process for analyzing companies in hours instead of weeks — powered by generative AI for efficiency.
The ability to identify moats like brand power, network effects, and economies of scale.
Real-world case studies (Monster Energy, Meta, and more) showing how great investors uncovered 10-baggers.
The confidence to evaluate opportunities independently, without chasing stock tips or headlines.
A framework for those who prefer not to pick stocks: how to build wealth effectively through dollar-cost averaging into ETFs.
This is not a “stock picks” course. It’s a system for thinking like an elite investor — and applying those principles to your own portfolio for long-term success.
