A little bit about me, your instructor. I am a life long painter who grew up in New York and went to art school here as well. My goal here is to share the experiences I have accrued over the last 30 years from my studio practice as well as those from my time spent in the professional art world to anyone who can benefit from them.

Description

In this course you’ll learn how to safely store flat works, as well as canvases, in order to keep them moisture and damage free. I’ll show you what materials will help you meet professional standards for storing and maintaining your artwork. You’ll also learn how to custom build an archival box to house any type of relatively flat artwork from small unframed artworks to thickly-framed paintings. I’ll also show you ways to professionally wrap your artwork for local or long-distance shipping.

This course is aimed at aspiring art professionals, including artists, gallerists, art handlers, interior designers, and anyone who regularly works with artwork. It’s taught by an artist and gallery/museum professional with 30 years of experience working for top NYC galleries and museums.

I hope that, regardless of your current level of knowledge in the studio, you can pick up something new in this class to add to your skill set so that you can put your best foot forward in the art world. The ultimate goal is to improve your presentation and storage practices so that you’ll be prepared for anyone and any situation.

If you’re just beginning your career and need to supplement your studio time with a freelance gig, this course will help you learn the techniques you need to get a step ahead with gallery practices, which can help you climb the pay ladder faster.
