In this lecture we understand about Significance of the Electrical system. We will preview what we are going learn during this entire course across all the three modules. Then we will start of the journey by understanding what exactly is an electrical system and then understand about a typical Domestic Electrical System.
In this session we will learn about Components of an Electrical System. We will learn what all kind of equipment are involved to bring electricity to charge our mobile phone battery or to our light bulbs. Then we will learn about Industrial Electrical System and how 3 phase power is utilized with an example of 3 phase motor. We will also understand what Industrial Electrical System comprises of.
In this session we will learn about the various units which are must know to everyone who is involved in electrical work. Then we will learn about Global Voltage variance. Then as we reach the end of Module we will learn about Electrical Loads.
Welcome to Module 2. Now having understood the basic ingredients of an Electrical System in Module 1, we will proceed forward to learn about commissioning of an Electrical System. We will start this by learning about the tools that we will require the most in Electrical System Commissioning. Then we will learn how to calculate Power requirement of our House or Factory.
As you may have observed in your office or school or factory, we have alternate sources for power backup. In this session we will learn about different types of power distribution arrangements and their unique characteristics.
As we have learned so far there are various equipment which play very critical role in bringing electricity to our use. In this session we will learn how to chose those equipment to ensure we continue to get electricity with out system failure.
This is the most critical session. Here we learn to Plan, Install and Commission an Electrical System. In this course we learn about Electrical Layout, Critical Parameters which we must consider before planning an Electrical System and then finally the process of Electrical System Installation & Commissioning.
In this module we will learn about issues that can arise if proper safety precaution are not taken. We learn about types of Electrical Hazards and also how Earthing/ Grounding can help us protect the electrical system, all the appliances, machines as save lives.
In this last session we will learn the best practices we must follow in order to maintain, upkeep and also while repairing the electrical system.
All work needs energy!
As we know Law of inertia, also called Newton’s first law, states that, if a body is at rest or moving at a constant speed in a straight line, it will remain at rest or keep moving in a straight line at constant speed, unless it is acted upon by a force." Whenever we need to do some work we need force, to generate force, we need energy.
We need machines to do work for us. Aren't we already making robots to do even household chores? Now, imagine what all we would want the machines to do for us at 'work'.
Well, the point is that we are in the middle of 4th Industrial revolution. And more machines mean more electricity is required. All this electricity flows through an Electrical system. Now you have got the criticality of an Electrical system, right? Now can you Guess the criticality of electrical system in a hospital? Imagine!
Well, the objective of this course is to help you learn how to plan and commission a good electrical system. A Good electrical system must be capable of transmitting electricity without burning out and also safeguard all Human and Equipment. So with the help of this course you will learn to plan and commission a stable and safe electrical system in a house, shop or a factory.
