Hey there! I’m Anne Marie Kramer. Once we’ve met, you can call me AMK, Mama Bear, or Amkzing — I answer to all of these names.
I’m your coffee-drinking, sugar-loving (seriously, I’m working on it) yoga teacher who believes yoga should be powerful while being playful. After teaching others for 25 years, I’ve learned that everything and everyone is a mirror and yoga is everywhere.
Some people might find me intimidating, this is just me, thriving in my zone, speaking clearly from my heart. What scares people is that I notice them.
I see people. Not like that little boy in the Sixth Sense – I don’t see dead people (but hey, the day is young!). I see things in people that they didn’t know were there. I see their deepest pain and what’s holding them back — and I call it out. People learn to cry for the first time in yoga.
I see them in you. Yes, I see you. You want to be seen.
So let’s get you out there! I’d love to help you see yourself, and your power – let’s make stuff happen! I want yoga to be fun for you – I want your whole life to be fun!
I believe yoga is for everyone. I’m a yoga teacher for people like you, who feel lost, who wish they could love their body, and their life. You should feel strong and powerful.
See, I didn’t always feel so powerful. I came from an extremely toxic and abusive family. Don’t call me a victim – I’m thriving. I believe it’s possible for you too – You just have to do the work and never stop.
At 24, both of my parents died. Cocaine and booze were my support system. One morning, after sleeping with a drug dealer, I looked over and saw lines of coke on my mother’s end table. This was NOT how I was going to go down. I changed my college major to Exercise Physiology and found yoga. I spent the next 25 years working on myself—and I’m not done—self-work is an ongoing process.
Growing up physically abused, I was afraid to have kids and repeat the pattern. I’m proud to tell you I had two kids after 40 and I don’t beat them — I’m winning at life.
Today, I believe in the healing power of yoga, and its ripple effect on the community and the world. In 2007, I founded Zuda Yoga and Zuda’s Open Your Heart Teacher Training because I wanted to create my own little community.
We have studios in Sacramento, Folsom, and Roseville. Hundreds of Zuda’s training graduates have gone on to teach yoga and open many studios around the nation and the world.
When I’m teaching: Expect the unexpected! We’ll dance, sing, kiss, hug our neighbors, and share secrets about things you’ve never shared with anyone to the person on the mat beside you. No scripts, no plans, I like to read the energy in the room, and let the magic flow! We have a lot of fun at Zuda, and I think you will too.
When I’m not at the studio surprising my students with the unexpected, find me filling my love tank with my two young kids, step-daughter, my dog named Easy, snowboarding down a mountain, eyeballs deep in a book, or asleep when most people are just headed out for the evening.
Namaste & Stuff,
