EFT creates a cognitive shift that give maximum results in relieving your stress, fears and anxiety. This is one of the oldest healing methods.
Roger Callahan started the first version of EFT called TFT many decades ago in the 1970's. Joan shares how EFT started.
Global refers to learning from a methodology that is general in nature and you can not go into the issues very deep. Specific refers to being with a trained practitioner who can get into the specifics of your issues. Often, you will not want to look at your issues and only with a trained professional can you heal those issues.
The most fundamental theoretical base of EFT, the "Discovery Statement", states:
The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system
Every negative emotion or complex of emotions (phobia, depression, traumatic memory, guilt, etc.) is generated by a disruption of a person's energy.
So, we have negative emotions that are caused by an energy disruption in our body, which in turn is triggered by external stimuli (facts and situations that we seem, hear, etc.) or by internal stimuli (facts and states that we bring back from our memory or create in our imagination).
We don't try to explain here how the disruption has been caused in the first place and we really don't care about it, when trying to dissolve it with EFT!
This principle leads to the thought that a negative emotion is never "stored" in a person's psycho-somatic system and that it is generated upon appropriate triggering, which fires an energy disruption.
It should be noted that EFT does not suppresses emotions! If something stops bothering the person after treating it with EFT, it's because it got energetically diffused and not because we "covered" it with something else or because we forced the logical reframing of it.
We should also stress that the energy disruption is an original concept and is not identical to any terms denoting psychological, emotional or mental disturbances or disorders. It is true that may of the latest can be explained in terms of energy disruptions, but they are not the same thing...

Grounding is a technique that helps keep someone in the present. They help reorient a person to the here-and-now and in reality. Grounding skills can be helpful in managing overhelming feelings or intense anxiety. They help someone to regain their mental focus from an often intensely emotional state.
Cross crawl refers to movements in which we use opposition such as crawling, walking, running, and swimming. Opposition means that opposite sides of the body work together to coordinate the right arm and left leg, then the left arm and right leg. Therapeutically, cross crawl refers to any intentional cross-lateral activity in which you cross the mid-line of the body, such as touching opposite hand and knee or foot.
Performing this movement builds the bridge between the right and left hemispheres of the brain, allowing for electrical impulses and information to pass freely between the two, which is essential for physical coordination as well as cerebral activities, such as learning language, reading, and hand-to-eye coordination.
To effectively change using EFT, you need to set a baseline. Very often people will release their trauma or stress and then shift to thinking, "Well, that was never that bad..." even though you might have been constantly crying hysterically for a week. Our mind works in mysterious ways. By setting a baseline, you can objectively see how much EFT helped you.
