Description
Welcome to the course "Economics for Everyone"! If you're aiming to understand the economic forces that shape our world, this course is specially designed for you. Throughout this program, we will guide you from grasping the foundational principles of economics to applying advanced analytical techniques, enriched by insights into macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics.
In Module 1: Basic Economic Concepts, you'll start with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental ideas that underpin economics. You'll explore supply and demand, learning how markets function and prices are determined. Delving into key economic indicators, you'll understand the significance of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in measuring economic health. This module also covers essential economic concepts such as inflation, unemployment, and economic growth, providing a solid foundation for the rest of the course.
Module 2: Macroeconomics shifts the focus to the broader economic landscape. You'll study the monetary system, including the role of central banks and the mechanics of money supply. Exploring economic cycles, you'll gain insights into periods of expansion and recession and their impact on economies. This module also delves into macroeconomic policy, examining how governments use fiscal and monetary tools to influence economic outcomes and stabilize markets.
In Module 3: Microeconomics, you'll zoom in on individual markets and the behavior of firms and consumers. You'll analyze market equilibrium and how prices adjust to balance supply and demand. The module covers different market structures like monopoly and oligopoly, exploring how they affect competition and consumer choices. Additionally, you'll be introduced to game theory, learning how strategic interactions among rational decision-makers can influence economic scenarios.
Module 4: Econometrics introduces you to the quantitative methods economists use to test theories and analyze data. You'll learn about various types of databases and data collection techniques crucial for economic analysis. The module covers the simple regression model, teaching you how to examine relationships between two variables. Building on that, you'll explore the multiple regression model, enabling you to analyze more complex relationships and make informed predictions based on real-world data.
