ECG for dummies
What you'll learn
- Do you also find it quite a challenge to follow a course of more than 4 hours? ECGs difficult? This course is set up in such a way that you learn a lot about ECGs in a structured and efficient manner. And that with a few evenings of time.
- Start with the introduction first. So you know how an ECG is written on paper. Then it's easier to remember than just memorize facts.
- Then the actual analysis. In parts 2 and 3. Step by step. Print the summary that you will find in lesson 6. Keep it next to it. Provides overview. And at the end of lessons 2 and 3, practice some ECGs to test things for yourself.
- Now you already know a lot about ECGs. You have spent two hours. But you also want to know something about arrhythmias. Spend an hour on it in lesson 4. And keep also the summary of lesson 7 next to it. Makes overview and remembering easier.
- And you still have energy? Lesson 5 deals with some special topics. Quite interesting.
- And repetition is the best teacher. In lesson 8 you will find a checklist. Almost all of the above on one A4. Can also be downloaded or printed.
Requirements
- Even without prior knowledge of ECGs, this course allows you to learn to interpret an ECG.
Description
Lecture 1: the course starts with background information and physiology.
Lecture 2: followed by a 9-step approach to analyze an ECG: from rhythm to U-wave. In part 1 we come to the PR interval.
Lecture 3: the rest of the 9-step approach from QRS to the U-wave.
Lecture 4: is about rhythm- and conduction disorders and a 3-step approach to analyze arrhythmias.
Lecture 5: contains some special topics (ST elevation, tall R in V1, ECG in athletes, pacemakers etc.).
Lecture 6: brief summary of the 9-step approach of the basic ECG with clear schedules. With summary to download.
Lecture 7: brief summary of the rhythm- and conduction disorders, also with enlightening and simple schemes. With summary to download.
Lecture 8: a handy form on one A4 that can guide you through the assessment of an ECG.
Who this course is for:
- GP's, doctors in training for cardiologist, internist, pulmonologist, geriatrician, nurses who want to know more about ECGs and arrhythmias. In short, anyone who ever has to deal with ECGs.
Instructor
Training to become a cardiologist at Leiden University Hospital. Then worked for more than 30 years as a cardiologist at the Slingeland Hospital in Doetinchem (NL). During those 30 years I have taught a lot of ECGs to doctors in training, specialists in training, GPs and nurses. The videos you see here show the progressive insight into how to clearly teach someone to understand an ECG.
Mijn tweede cursus betreft leren bridgen. Ben zelf net begonnen. Heb geprobeerd bridge gestructureerd te beschrijven.
