What you'll learn

  • Do you also find it quite a challenge to follow a course of more than 4 hours? ECGs difficult? This course is set up in such a way that you learn a lot about ECGs in a structured and efficient manner. And that with a few evenings of time.
  • Start with the introduction first. So you know how an ECG is written on paper. Then it's easier to remember than just memorize facts.
  • Then the actual analysis. In parts 2 and 3. Step by step. Print the summary that you will find in lesson 6. Keep it next to it. Provides overview. And at the end of lessons 2 and 3, practice some ECGs to test things for yourself.
  • Now you already know a lot about ECGs. You have spent two hours. But you also want to know something about arrhythmias. Spend an hour on it in lesson 4. And keep also the summary of lesson 7 next to it. Makes overview and remembering easier.
  • And you still have energy? Lesson 5 deals with some special topics. Quite interesting.
  • And repetition is the best teacher. In lesson 8 you will find a checklist. Almost all of the above on one A4. Can also be downloaded or printed.

Course content

  • Introduction.17:03

The course starts with a brief introduction to the history of the ECG, a bit of physiology, QRS nomenclature and how an ECG gets on paper.

  • Basic ECG. 9 step approach I.32:35

The first part of the 9-step approach how to analyze an ECG: from rhythm to the PR interval.

  • Basic ECG. 9 step approach II.49:01

The second part of the 9-step approach how to analyze an ECG, from Q wave till the U wave.

  • Rhythm- and conduction disorders.1:01:01

Always struggled to distinguish arrhythmias? Here a simple way to recognize supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias by means of a 3-step approach. And a simple and clear explanation of conduction disturbances.

  • Special topics.51:28
  • Summary basic ECG. 9 step approach.8:51

A brief summary of parts 2 and 3, the basic ECG. With emphasis on the 9 step approach to systematically analyzing an ECG. Can also be downloaded for on paper or as a file in your smartphone or tablet.

  • Summary rhythm- and conduction disorders.6:52

A brief summary of part 4, rhythm- and conduction disorders. With emphasis on the 3-step approach how to systematically analyze the rhythm. Can also be downloaded for on paper or as a file in your smartphone or tablet.

  • Checklist.11:44

A checklist on one A4. To put next to an ECG for systematic and easy evaluation. Can also be downloaded, for on paper or for your smartphone or tablet.

Requirements

  • Even without prior knowledge of ECGs, this course allows you to learn to interpret an ECG.

Description

Lecture 1: the course starts with background information and physiology.

Lecture 2: followed by a 9-step approach to analyze an ECG: from rhythm to U-wave. In part 1 we come to the PR interval.

Lecture 3: the rest of the 9-step approach from QRS to the U-wave.

Lecture 4: is about rhythm- and conduction disorders and a 3-step approach to analyze arrhythmias.

Lecture 5: contains some special topics (ST elevation, tall R in V1, ECG in athletes, pacemakers etc.).

Lecture 6: brief summary of the 9-step approach of the basic ECG with clear schedules. With summary to download.

Lecture 7: brief summary of the rhythm- and conduction disorders, also with enlightening and simple schemes. With summary to download.

Lecture 8: a handy form on one A4 that can guide you through the assessment of an ECG.

Who this course is for:

  • GP's, doctors in training for cardiologist, internist, pulmonologist, geriatrician, nurses who want to know more about ECGs and arrhythmias. In short, anyone who ever has to deal with ECGs.
