In this lesson we are learning two simple chords. C Major and A Minor. This rhythm is very simple, it is played exactly that way in countless songs. It´s perfect for slow songs, but also good for faster tempos.
In this lesson we are learning two more simple chords. F Major and G Major. Together with the chords of lesson 1 we are playing a 4 bar chord progression.
So far, we have played whole notes in the left hand. Now we are getting to know half notes.
The topic of this lesson is "broken chords". In broken chords the notes are not played at the same time. There are many variations. One way to play broken chords is, playing the chords in single notes - one note after the other.
A brief glimpse into the world of music theory. Easy going... This lesson tells about the difference between a "half step" and a "whole step".
In this lesson, in some of the bars we are playing 2 chords. That means, the chord changes after two beats.
In this lesson we are getting a first impression of how to build a Minor Chord out of some basic Major Chords.
Besides F Major we are playing the chords C Minor and G Minor from lesson 7. This leads to a 4-bar pattern.
In this lesson we will get to know "Intervals". An Interval is the distance between two musical notes. In order to build chords we need to know the intervals. In this lesson we will have a closer look to the 3rd.
In this lesson we are learning a new option to play chords: "Inversions".
The root note is not the low note anymore. It moves up, so it will be the middle note or the top note.
In this lesson we are also learning the Bb Major Chord in the "1st Inversion".
In this lesson we will expand the chord progression of lesson 10 with another chord:
2 Bars of F Major, so it will be a 4 Bar Chord Progression.
Inversions:
F Major in the "2nd Inversion"
We will practice F Major in all 3 Options: Root Position, 1st Inversion, 2nd Inversion
This super famous rhythm in the world of pop music was also used by Ed Sheeran in his Song "Thinking out loud". Our chord progression is inspired from that song, but due to copyright reasons we are playing different chords.
Left Hand Bass Note-Variation: For the first time we don´t play the root note as the lowest note. As a variation the 3rd is played as the lowest note.
Basic knowledge for playing the piano are scales. In this lesson we will learn how they are built. Again, whole steps and halfs steps will be a topic.
We are starting very simple with the C Major Scale.
Then we will learn the G Major Scale. G Major has 1 Sharp (#), the note F becomes F#. We will learn why.
We are leaning a new piano pattern in the style of John Legends Song "All of me". Due to copyright reasons we are using different chords. The chords are all new to us:
F Minor
Ab Major 2nd Inversion
Eb Major
Db Major
We are learning a new rhytmic pattern in the style of Emelie Sandé. Striking are the percussive played eigth notes! (British English: Quavers)
Coldplay used this rhythmic pattern in his big hit "Clocks". It comes originally from Africa, but is used very often in pop music. It consists of
a combination of 3 beats and 2 beats: 3 3 2. iIt´s really simple and is very groovy.
We are learning
broken chords in eigth notes:
F Major and G Minor in the Root Position
Eb Major in the 1st Inversion
In this lesson we are learning a rhythmic pattern in the style of Sam Smiths Song "Stay with me". Due to copyright reasons we are using different chords. In the left hand we are playing for the first not the root note, but the third. This pattern leaves a lot of space to the singer and exudes calm.
We just played single notes in the left hand so far. In this lesson we will learn to play chords in the left hand. The easiest way to do that, is to play the chords in its root position. The right hand will also play chords, but we do that as broken chords.
We are playing chords in the root position in the left hand. In the right hand we don´t play chords, we are playing a simple melody. We are building the melody by playing just the notes of the chord.
In continuation of lesson 19 we are playing broken chords in the left hand again. In the right hand, we are playing a melody. In addition to the notes of the chords we also play the (major) 2nd.
In this lesson we are learning a new scale: F Major.
F Major has no sharp (#), like G Major, but a "b", what is called a "flat".
In this lesson we are learning a new pattern in the Style of Bruno Mars Song "Just the way you are". Due to copyright reasons we are using different chords - also the Pattern is simplyfied. In the left hand we are playing quarter notes. The right hand is a bit tricky: We are playing 1 x the low note together with the high note, then 2 x the low note together with the middle note.
