What students are saying:
5 stars, "I have taken music lessons on piano 20 years ago and have been learning guitar on my own for the past 5 years. I never had an ear training course, but always admired those people that could identify an interval or exact note within a known scale. Now, through this course, I can join that exclusive club. Probably the best 3 hours I have spent learning music." -Chris H.
5 stars, "Very helpful! The course provides the main tools for pitch recognition in a short time and in an effective and clear way." -Serena C.
5 stars, "Excellent training course to help with ear training, with in-depth explanation. Thanks Dan!" -Nana D.
5 stars, "Undoubtedly, this ear training is the best as compared to others. I am totally satisfied." -Milan T.
5 stars, "I feel like I've been deaf and now I'll start hearing again! A new language is about to reveal itself to me! I'm so excited!" -Hila S.
Welcome to Ear Training for the Curious Guitarist. This is the ultimate ear training course to teach you how to properly identify any relative note, interval, or pitch on the guitar. Ear training is an extremely valuable skill that's taught in every university-level music program, but seldom taught outside of that.
In this course, we'll learn the technique of relative pitch ear training to hear & play music, especially guitar, without needing to see or touch our instrument - only hearing. Ear training & relative pitch recognition is a skill that every musician can easily learn and every skilled guitarist uses regularly.
Any kind of six string guitar will work well for this course - electric, acoustic, or classical.
Every lesson video has a PDF attachment in the "additional resources" tab. These PDFs are the guitar tabs and ear training lessons.
This course has only one section: Ear Training. We'll begin with refresher lessons of the chromatic & major scales as well as intervals, leading us to the pitch recognition game. I'll play this game a few times, explaining as we go, and continue on to give you all the tools & associations to help you identify all 12 intervals by ear in every key.
This course is designed for the beginner guitar student as well as the advanced guitarist. Every level of player can learn ear training & relative pitch recognition. Every guitarist can greatly benefit from having this skill.
