Welcome to Drawing for Painters! Here I describe who this course if for, and how I will be teaching it, and what you will be covered.
(Learn more about your instructor by downloading her artist biography in the resources)
In this lesson I discuss how we will be drawing during the course in these lessons, versus, how you will be drawing when you are actually preparing a painting. From here, our next lesson will move right into the drawing lessons with supplies handy!
This video shows how the 2 dimensional shapes translate into 3 dimensional representations in your art. Understanding how to create the basic shapes in 3 dimensions and how to draw them is a cornerstone to a successful painting.
In this video I will cover how the basic shapes you've learned in the last lesson can be combined to create many objects. We will also cover how to create a proportionally balanced shape using measurement from the center line.
Drawing through is a drawing skill that can help you create a believable grouping of objects in your painting. Here I will show you how to "draw through" to have a clear understanding of placing objects accurately.
In this lesson I will cover the process of using "sight sizing" - that is - how to use a straight tool (skewer, pencil or paintbrush) to look at and measure the subject and recreate the relative size in your painting.
In this lesson I cover how to find relationships between objects. By using a straight edged tool, you will learn to line up edges to create angles and lines that connect your subjects and use those lines and marks to place objects realistically.
In this lesson I cover One Point Perspective. The core of how to create the illusion of distance in your painting. You will also learn how to create evenly spaced verticals going back in space (ie: fence posts, columns, trees).
In this lesson I cover 2 Point Perspective. This lesson helps you to create structures, and more! that appear to go back in space. Such as a house. I will show you how to "build" the house, place the windows in a realistic way following the "rules" of perspective.
Congratulations on completing the course! This conclusion reminds you to practice, practice, practice!
