
This video will introduce you to drawing in the traced mode of drawing using Paintology. This method of drawing can increase your skills in developing your drawing strokes as well as appreciation of tonal values which are important to drawing.

Loading the reference image into the Paintology canvas to enable you find tones using the color picker and also create accurate outlines for drawings
You can set the background color of the drawing using this feature. Make sure to do this prior to the drawing
This short video will show you how to use the trace bar to pick out colors.
In this part of the drawing, we use the traced mode of drawing with the Paintology app. Simply select the trace drawing mode button (please check previous section on how to do this), find your downloaded reference image and load into your canvas. Next select the dark background color.
In the next section we are going to try our hand at drawing this by freehand without the trace tools. This will train you to do free drawing strokes as well as pick out tones with your eyes only.

In the final drawing step, we go through the drawing by freehand and put finishing touches to the drawing such as the hair, shades on the face and neck as well as the earrings.

Drawing in any medium such as pencils, charcoal or pastels, allows you to continuously develop and shape your techniques. This includes drawing in the digital medium using the free Paintology app available from the google play store.
Paintology has made the task of drawing easier than ever before with it's highly intuitive interface but powerful tools capable of doing photo realistic drawings.
In this portrait drawing of Marilyn Munroe, we use one brush tool 'shade' to create this piece. We simply change the brush size vary the tones and zoom in for the finer detailed drawing.
