Portrait drawings are always popular with artists and is done with a variety of mediums such as charcoal, pastels, pencils, acrylics and of course oils. However, in the digital medium portrait drawings have been mainly animated drawings since this appeals to that generation. The recent advances in Android and Apple tablets have changed all this and more people are using this method for drawing. Some of these apps rely on your 'true' drawing techniques without resorting to too much emphasis on the tool sets. In the same way that you are comfortable with drawing on pen and paper you will feel equally comfortable with the Paintology app. This is in part to the simple but yet powerful interface which focuses more on your drawing skills rather than swamping you with a myriad of tools.

The Paintology app is the perfect drawing app for you to transition from the traditional to digital and this portrait drawing will show you how.

I come from a very technical background but like many folks, I am very passionate about drawing and painting. In the recent years I have rekindled some of the lost interest in drawing when I was young.

I have done extensive drawings using pastels, pencils, acrylics and watercolors. My new found love is digital drawing and how versatile this medium truly is.

I hope to express and share my passion through these tutorials.
