
An introduction to the workshop. This session gives an overview on the garment, named Bella Top, you will be creating, including what you will learn from this workshop. It also covers briefly on the materials required to construct the top.
In this session, you will learn how to take the body measurements required to draft the basic block for the top. After taking the measurement, you will learn to draft the basic block. Use the drafting calculator (attached as excel file) to facilitate your drafting.
You will learn to draft the style line for the pattern using the block you created in the earlier session.
In this session you will learn how to convert the block to pattern (including adding the princess lines), and lay the pattern pieces you have created on the fabric for cutting.
In this session, you will learn how to sew the front and back princess seams.
In this session, you will continue the top construction. You will join the center back seams, press the seams and topstitch the pleats.

You will learn to take your own body measurements, develop your own basic bodice blocks and convert block to pattern by drafting the style lines with the block. Some of the drafting techniques you will learn include the slash and spread method.
What is the Bella Top? It is an easy to wear top with a good amount of ease, a perfect garment for office and casual wear. It has a round neckline, extended shoulders, princess seams in the front and back of the garment, and a concealed zipper at the center back. It includes an optional waist tie for a more fitted and flattering look.
You will learn how to place and cut fabric pieces using the pattern pieces developed, as well as all the sewing techniques require to construct the top, including inserting a concealed zipper , applying bias tape to finish the neckline and armhole, as well as creating a waist tie to complete the look.
At the end of the workshop, you will be able to draft and sew the top to your measurements.
