    Let's face it, learning basketball is tough when you first start out. but once you create something called muscle memory, things get easier. there's a saying that "rome wasn't built in one day." meaning, Rome is such a beautiful place but it took work and time for the finished product to look the way it does. that's the same things with meaning basketball.

  • Intro To Shooting Without Ball4:43

    Students will be able to learn the basic body movements to being able to shoot. Going all up in one motion and ending on tippy toes.

  • Intro To Shooting With Ball3:10

    Students should continue to work on starting low with chest up, going up all in one motion, finishing on their tippy toes, and focusing on the hooks placed on parts of the basketball goal. Also when shots are missed, making adjustments based off the previous shot.

    ex: if too short, use more power. if to the left, shoot it more to the right

    *If you are not strong enough, continue to shoot from chest as shown in previous video.*

    Students should now be using one hand. the shooting hand should start as if you are delivering a pizza meaning the wrist has to be tilted back. you're low, chest still up, going up all one motion and finishing with shooting arm straight forward and  tippy toes.

    Students will be able to now balance the ball on hand as they go down to generate power to shoot. This lesson we implemented the follow through so students should now be finishing with a goose neck. All shots should start low, chest up, & wrist tilted back.  To ensure students have control of the ball we're getting low, coming up, going low again, & going up all on one motion. Still finishing with shooting arm straight forward, on tippy toes, & follow through.

    This video is to review what we've worked on up until this point. I specify the fact that if one step hasn't been mastered, you cannot move on to the next step. you can't learn division without knowing how to add and subtract and it's the same thing with basketball.

  • Guide Hand6:51

    Students will now learn how to use the guide hand. The guide hand is exactly what it sounds like which is to guide the ball to the rim. the key is to make sure, as explained in the lesson, that the guide hand is coming up with the follow through and staying straight. We want to make sure the thumb on the guide isn't pushing the ball which is a common mistake many beginners make.

    After practicing the shooting motion with the guide hand 15 times, pick the ball up and make 5 from the center of basketball and the two blocks (total 15) as we did when learning form shooting.

  • Ball Handling11:55

    This lesson we work on 4 different ball handling drills. Pounding the ball up to the knee, waist, and ear. Afterwards we went around the left leg and right leg with one hand proceeded by putting both arms together and dribbling in a figure 8 motion, finishing with finger tip dribbles. This should be done 5-7 days a week to really see progress and improve ball handling.

    Starting off in the triple threat in which we worked on last session we now teach what a pivot is, rip the ball while stepping forward, & go over some common mistakes that are made when starting to learn this.

    Following the previous session, now we are sweeping the ball with one dribble and practicing the overhand layup in the right side.

    As stated in the video, sometimes kids have trouble keeping the correct angle. Of course eventually you don't want to continue to use cones when practicing attacking the rim but they help when you are starting

    Keeping the cones as an aid to keep the correct angle, we work on attacking the rim from a triple threat position while stepping first, shoulder being down, keeping the ball on the right side, and giving yourself enough room for the Underhand layup. Description

These courses are designed specifically for ball players that have just started playing or with little experience. Each lesson is a step by step guide to learning key elements of becoming a better basketball player. As you start this journey, understand that some things will be difficult but with hard work you WILL make progress. It's important to not compare yourself to others because everyone develops at their own pace. The preferred approach is to try to be better than you were the day before. This a YOU vs YOU battle so give it your all and know that the work you put in will add up. Some kids start off with a natural talent in basketball but my favorite quote is "hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Also, know that when your aren't sitting at home relaxing, there's a other kid some where in your country or around the world putting in work and the reps will accumulate. If you're willing to be consistent with your work, I have no doubt that your game will enhance. Be ready to give every workout your all with a high level of focus, dedication, and passion.
