Description
Welcome to my course overview of my doctoral capstone experience on an acute burn unit. I am a third-year doctoral student in Occupational Therapy at Drake University. Here, you will learn about my preparation before my capstone rotation and what I did throughout it. My preparation consisted of a needs assessment, literature review, and listing learning objectives/artifacts to be done at my capstone site. My capstone rotation was completed at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics burn trauma unit, the only burn trauma unit in the state of Iowa. I was allowed to work and learn from the only burn therapist for Iowa, Katie Lundquist, who received her Master's in Occupational Therapy. At the end of the main lecture, you will be able to view my artifacts I created to understand how I contributed to the burn unit and expanded my knowledge during my rotation. If you are interested in understanding occupational therapy's role in a burn unit, the need for burn therapists, along with how to become a certified burn therapist, listen to my lecture! If you are a current occupational therapy student wanting to find out what you want for your capstone rotation as you begin your search and preparation, listen to my lecture as well!
