Translate worded phrases into equations by mastering percent rules, 'of' as multiplication, 'is' as equals, and percent changes; apply these to converting equations problems.
Master rates, ratios, and conversions by solving proportions with cross products, aligning units with conversion factors, and applying these skills to area, volume, and SAT-style problems.
Apply the probability formula (desired over total), read charts to identify totals and outcomes, and use margin of error to interpret proportions with examples like a 14 sided die.
Learn to compute mean, median, mode, range, and standard deviation using the average pie and tan formula, solving single and multiple average problems with SAT-style examples.
Learn to read frequency tables, line graphs, bar graphs, and box plots; identify the smallest y value, the maximum data value, and the median for data distributions.
Master solving linear and other equations for the SAT, using Desmos as a backup calculator, practicing two-step, absolute value, and literal equations with clear steps.
Learn to analyze linear equations on the SAT with slope-intercept, standard, and point-slope forms; identify slope and y-intercept, then apply translations and parallel or perpendicular line concepts from two points.
Master systems of equations and inequalities by solving graphically with Desmos and algebraically via substitution and elimination, recognizing no solution or infinite solutions, and applying to word problems.
Master geometry essentials, combining geometry and trig with core volume, area, and surface area formulas. Learn to draw and label figures and solve cube, cylinder, and prism problems.
Master right triangles by recognizing pythagorean triples and 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles, apply the pythagorean theorem and right-triangle trig, and study triangle congruence and similarity rules.
Master circle geometry in the digital sat math video series, covering area and circumference, arcs and sectors, radians-to-degrees conversion, inscribed and central angles, and completing the square for circle equations.
Explore function notation, evaluate f(x) and g(x), identify y-intercepts and x-intercepts, and apply translations and horizontal and vertical shifts to understand function behavior.
Explore quadratic functions from standard to vertex form, identify axis of symmetry and the vertex, locate zeros and minimums or maximums, and learn the y-intercept with factoring practice.
Learn to solve quadratic problems with Desmos and factoring, treat equations as systems to find intersections, apply the quadratic formula and discriminant, and explore zeros, multiplicities, and projectile motion applications.
Compare linear and exponential relationships, derive exponential models like y = A·B^x, and apply exponent rules, percent changes, and growth or decay concepts through practice problems.
Explore simplifying and graphing rational and radical functions, including factoring, canceling, adding and subtracting rational expressions, transformations, solving radical equations, and rationalizing denominators.
This course provides an in-depth overview of the DIGITAL SAT. Every example and concept directly correlates to concepts that are taught on the new SAT. The SAT is a curved test; College Board first looks at the results from the test makers and fits scores into a "bell curve". Since most students will not be used to the new test, you should begin preparing now and get "ahead of the curve"!
Each lesson is taught in a format similar to that of Khan Academy; lessons are taught through video where you can see the instructor's work and explanations. It is important that you follow the order of the lessons, as some topics build on each other. Once you learn a new skill, test your new-found knowledge on REAL SAT questions.
This course has a book that you can purchase which includes all the questions that are covered in the class and the charts for each one. While this book is not required, it could be convenient while you are working through the lessons. PDFs of each lesson are available in the course if you wish to print each one before working through the lessons in lieu of purchasing the book.
This course covers all aspects of the test and gives students strategies and knowledge that they can use to be successful on the test. In order to maximize your score, understand that practice is what will get you there. We are here to guide you on your journey, but you must put in the effort. Good Luck!
