Master the thinking process before painting by analyzing shapes, defining light and shadow, and choosing the right colors to paint objects realistically for beginners, using iPad and Procreate.
Master the coloring book method in Procreate to recreate realistic objects by focusing on shapes, color, and detail, using four steps: reference, define shapes, choose colors, and fill.
Choose a reference for real estate painting by selecting a simple object from a stock photo site like Unsplash, insert the photo into a screen-sized canvas, and practice observation.
Practice observational drawing by comparing copying from a reference photo to drawing from memory, using basic shapes and lines with preferred brushes to warm up your eye and hand.
Define basic shapes and observe light and shadow to build realistic sketches in digital painting. Use short lines to map shadows, highlights, and drop shadows, embracing practice over perfection.
learn to choose colors for digital painting by creating and using palettes, importing colors from photos, assigning colors for shadows, midtones, and highlights, and using a grayscale value check.
Master digital painting gradation by practicing shading with liner and shader brushes, blending colors from light to dark, exploring textures, brush pressure, and hues for smoother color transitions.
Learn to paint a realistic donut by building a simple base shape on separate layers, applying shadows, gradations, highlights, and subtle background changes to observe light and texture.

Welcome to the „Digital Painting for Beginners in Procreate“!
In this course you will learn how to paint objects realistically. You will be guided through the whole process that precedes the painting itself – analyzing shapes, defining light and shadow and also choosing the right colors.
The course is perfect for very beginners in painting (and drawing too) – the focus of this course is to give you a basic thinking process about objects, how and what to observe and how to apply your observations in practice.
Beginners tend to make the mistake of thinking that artists just sit down to the canvas or screen and all the beautiful artworks just magically fly out of them - this causes procrastination, fear of failure and lots of unfinished artworks. Even though try and failure is part of the process, it is important to understand that in all cases, there is a thinking and planning process before the painting itself. If you want to paint an object realistically, you need to analyze the shapes, values and colors....I will show you how.
In this course I will be using an iPad and Procreate, but the concepts can be applied in any media – this class focuses on digital, so you can take the class in any software (Photoshop or Krita) , but feel free to follow me even traditionally.
You don’t need to „know how to draw“ either.
The skills you get from this course will give you the most basic knowledge any artist has to know and will give you a stable base you can build on on your artistic journey. They will set you up for success for sure.
So are you ready to start?
See you inside!
