Description

I bet in the last week you have looked at a t-shirt and though, that looks cool! I like that! I would wear that! We’re all really good at knowing what looks good, but do you know WHY it looks good? What makes that a great t-shirt?

This course is all about understanding WHY we like what we like. You can design. You may not know it yet, but you can. Design is a skill more than a talent, there are principles behind it. Principles that anybody can learn and practice.

I go over the design principles: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity. What do they mean, how do we use them

I walk you through how I design shirts using these principles

We learn the art of the critiq. We look at existing shirts and talk about how to make them better. And how to use our design principles that we have learned to do that and how you can apply that to some of your best selling shirts to take them to that next level.

I will be talking about what design tools are out there so whether you are just dipping your toe in and don’t want to spend a lot up front of if you’re already making money and want to learn more about what the professionals use, I cover that here.

I will talk about resources. Where do designers get all those great fonts? Where can I find illustrations that are safe to use on my shirts? How can I find and hire a designer? How can I give that designer feedback to make my shirts even better.

If you’re using Amazon Merch than you are in the design business, so understanding these fundamentals of design is the key skill to growing your business, whether you’re excited about designing your own shirts or if you have hired a designer and want to give better feedback that will take your shirts to the next level, this course is for you.

Who this course is for:

  • Students looking to learn more about t-shirt design
  • Business people working with t-shirt designers

Was a great course. Because I've got little to no training on design this was perfect to get me started on looking at my designs with a more critical eye and be able to say why something is looking good.

Hi, I’m Brad. I’m a professional graphic designer and Illustrator.

I’ve published comics, run conferences but what I’m best known for is running a Youtube channel where I talk about technology for illustrators. In that time I’ve published reviews on everything from the Surface Pro to the iPad pro. And everything in between.

I believe drawing and illustration is a journey, we are all constantly learning and getting better and I blog about that on my channel as well. I think anyone can learn to draw all it takes is practice.

It’s never to late to pick up a pencil and start learning.
