How to transfer footage to Fusion and navigate its modular interface, including key panels like the Media Pool, Viewers, Inspector, and Nodes panel.
How to use the Nodes panel to create and modify visual effects efficiently.
How to navigate and manipulate nodes: Understand their sequential workflow, connect them properly, and use them to perform operations like transformations and text overlays.
Using key tools in Fusion: Learn to use the mouse wheel for navigation, shortcuts like renaming nodes, and essential panels like the Inspector to adjust node properties.
The role of different node types: Explore input, modification, and transformation nodes to create effects, and understand how their order impacts the final result.
How to preview nodes in different viewers: Use the dots under nodes or keyboard shortcuts to assign specific nodes to Viewer 1 or Viewer 2, allowing comparison between the original clip and the final result.
The importance of multiple viewers: Understand how to utilize multiple viewers for efficient node editing, such as analyzing individual effects or comparing them to the final output.
Next steps in node usage: Gain insight into identifying the most essential nodes and their applications for creating and refining visual effects.
Working with background and text nodes: Learn to create and customize backgrounds, add text, and understand how to connect them using nodes like Merge to layer elements together.
Importance of node order: Understand how the sequence of connecting nodes impacts the final output, including how to adjust text layers and swap their order within the Merge node.
Advanced node techniques: Explore the Multi Merge node for combining multiple elements and using the Merge node’s scaling and blending mode options to enhance visuals.
What a mask is and how to use it: Learn to create and apply masks to control where your image or text appears and where it remains invisible.
Mask customization: Explore different mask shapes (circle, square, custom polygons) and how to adjust properties like invert and borders to refine the masked area.
Previewing with masks: Understand how to preview the mask and final result, seeing how it affects the visibility and transparency of different layers in the composition.
Tracking: Learn how to use the Planar Tracker to make text or elements move with the background, such as matching text with moving objects in the video.
Applying and previewing transformations: Use the Planar Transform node to apply movement data to elements, allowing them to follow the background's movement seamlessly.
Node organization and cleanup: Understand how to organize nodes for clarity and efficiency, use Merge nodes for combining elements, and clean up unnecessary nodes to keep the workspace tidy.
Rotoscoping with Magic Mask: Learn how to isolate a person or object from a video using the Magic Mask, allowing for precise adjustments and creating transparent areas.
Alpha channel usage: Understand how to use the alpha channel as a mask to control where elements like text appear or disappear in the video.
Motion blur and animation smoothing: Discover how to apply motion blur for more realistic animations and use the Spline tool to smooth out keyframe transitions for a polished result.
This section provides a comprehensive guide to creating trendy video effects using DaVinci Resolve. It covers steady filming techniques, advanced editing in Fusion (including stabilization, time ramping, and motion blur), and tips for aligning transitions to music for professional-quality results.
Shooting Tips: Capture steady, wide shots with smooth camera movements like Continuous Orbit, Dolly In, and Rotational Movement. Use tools like a gimbal or grid guides for precision.
Three Key Techniques: Master stabilization to fix specific points, use time ramping for dynamic speed control, and apply a unique "magic touch" to elevate the effect.
Practice with Any Object: Start with simple, smooth shots of objects (e.g., a car or any subject), then refine transitions during editing for a professional and trendy look.
Learn how to use the Planar Tracker Node
Track and Stabilize
Fix Edges with Transform Node: Add a Transform node after the Planar Tracker to scale up the shot slightly, preventing any transparent edges from appearing during stabilization.
Apply Time Stretcher Node: Add the Time Stretcher node after the Planar Tracker to modify frame timing, allowing for fast, slow, or reversed sections in your video.
Adjust Speed with Keyframes: Use keyframes to define time changes; for example, compress a section to speed it up or slow it down by adjusting Source Time in the node.
Smooth Transitions with Spline: In the Spline editor, adjust the keyframes' curves to create smooth transitions between fast and slow sections for a more natural look.
What is Motion Blur?: Motion blur simulates the real-world blur that occurs when objects move quickly, adding realism to your scene and making movement appear more natural.
How to Apply it
Effect: This technique makes fast-moving elements appear more lifelike, avoiding the unnatural "strobing" effect that can occur when objects move too quickly without blur.
Optical Flow and Vector Blur for Realistic Motion Blur: Learn to use Optical Flow to detect changes in movement between frames and Vector Blur to apply a more realistic blur based on that data, rather than the typical frame blending.
Channel Adjustment for Vector Blur: Ensure proper channel configuration by using Vector X for the X channel and Vector Y for the Y channel to avoid issues with color mixing.
Final Video Optimization: The combination of these techniques leads to a smoother, more polished final result, ready to add epic transitions synchronized with music rhythm.
