Description

The dark web is a part of the internet that operates on a decentralized network, aiming to keep users anonymous. It achieves this by routing communications through multiple servers and encrypting data at every stage.

Although the dark web is often associated with secretive activities, it was initially developed by researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Lab. They recognized the vulnerabilities of the open internet and sought to create a more secure, private network.

Building on this foundation, the Tor Network was launched in 2002, making the dark web accessible to a broader audience. In 2008, the Tor Project introduced the Tor Browser, designed to simplify navigation of the dark web. However, as CSO Magazine recently pointed out, the dark web remains "unpredictable, unreliable, and maddeningly slow." Despite this, the Tor network boasts several thousand servers and millions of users, though its growth rate is difficult to determine.

In this course, you'll learn how to begin using the Dark Web, the Tor Browser, and cryptocurrencies.

Section 3: Accessing the Dark Web - This section teaches you how to use dark web search engines, navigate markets, and utilize Bitcoin cryptocurrency.
