After completing this class you will be comfortable using Mac, Windows and Linux command line (Unix and DOS commands). You will be able to setup virtual machines running Windows or Linux server. You will understand creative applications such as Photoshop, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve. You will also learn how to setup virtual servers in the Amazon cloud.
In this course you will gain practical, hands-on experience with system administration across multiple platforms used in entertainment, games and Hollywood studios. We will start with the fundamentals of the Windows and Linux command line, learning how to navigate file systems, manage processes, and configure essential services. By practicing these skills you will become fluent in working with Macs, PCs, and Linux servers in both local studio environments and the AWS cloud.
Beyond the operating systems, this course introduces you to the creative and production technologies used every day in professional environments. You will learn how system administrators support tools like Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and 3D applications such as Autodesk Maya—applications that power modern design studios and even Hollywood blockbusters. Understanding how to keep these tools running smoothly gives you an edge when working in mixed creative and technical teams.
As you progress, you will not only learn theory but also build confidence through guided projects. The final project brings everything together: you will configure and deploy your own Linux server on Amazon AWS, demonstrating your ability to manage real-world systems in the cloud. By the end of this course, you will be prepared for both technical support roles and creative industry workflows, with a solid foundation in system administration.
