Creating Exciting Videos Using PowerPoint Slides

This is a brief introduction to the Creating Videos section. This section is the "meat" of the course.

PowerPoint slides are the basis of the visuals in your video. Not every PowerPoint presentation is a suitable foundation for a video. This tutorial tells you what you need to know about PowerPoint presentations in order to end up with great visuals in your video.

In this brief software tutorial, I will show you how to save a PowerPoint presentation as a series of JPEG files, one per slide. It is these JPEG files that we use as the video content to build our videos.

This lecture will get you ready to record your narration.

This lecture will show you how to use Audacity to record your narration.

Once you have recorded your narration, this lecture will get you ready to start editing it.

In this video, you will see how to use Audacity to edit your recorded narration and how to export the resulting edited narration to a Wave file (or MP3) to import into Camtasia.

We build the video in Camtasia by pulling together the JPG files from PowerPoint and the audio file from Audacity. This brief tutorial introduces the process.

The tutorial provides a tour of Camtasia, the tool we will be using for the final assemble of our videos.

You have seen how to use PowerPoint to create JPG versions of your slides. You have seen how to use Audacity to create excellent quality narration. You have also had a tour of the features of Camtasia. Now, we will see how to pull it all together into a finished video using Camtasia.

Once you have finished this tutorial, you will know everything you need to know to build powerful, polished videos. However, stay tuned. Later tutorials will show you how to make those videos look even better.

In the Creating Videos section introduction, I told you that was the "meat" of the course. If that was the meat, then this Advanced Section is the gravy. We will see how to add a number of enhancements to your videos. This short video introduces those enhancements.

A transition is what the video does when moving from one slide to the next slide. This tutorial will show you how to set up transitions for your presentation in Camtasia.

In this video, students will see how multiple pieces of audio can be combined in Audacity. We will see how to have the tracks overlap and how to fade in and fade out the tracks.

Each of these tutorials starts off with a nine second introduction. There are two tutorials on how to create these introductions. However, we begin with an introduction.

In this tutorial, you will see how to create an opening title sequence using two PowerPoint slides, some music, and Camtasia transitions.

In a much earlier tutorial, we learned how to clean up audio narration
for use in making our videos. You might recall that we used Audacity for
this. You can, of course, use the same approach to edit audio for a
podcast. This audio podcast will introduce this topic. Podcasts are not
the focus of this course so I do not cover them in detail but this
tutorial will give you enough information to quickly start producing
podcasts if that is something you need to do.
