Never ever be satisfied with “I tried.” “DO” is for winners “TRY” is for losers. Winners find a way to “DO IT” losers are satisfied with “I tried my best.” Don’t set out to try, set out to Do IT.
99% commitment is doing it when you are motivated to do it. 100% commitment is doing it when you are not motivated to do it.
“Work towards your goal everyday, and every day your goal will work towards you.” - Kevin Bender
“Sometimes I get the feeling the whole world is against me, but I know that is not true. Some of the smaller countries are neutral.”- Robert Orben
Stay clear of the “Energy Vampires.” You know who they are; the people that suck all the life and energy out of you. The people who complain, tell you that you will never succeed, tell you your ideas are stupid. These are the Vampires that you will need to “slay” along the way to your goal.
Study, research, and practice your goal. Go to night school, become an intern. You must get your foot in the door. To often we are looking for opportunities in the wrong places.
If you want to feast on potatoes, you need to dig where the taters are!
Make a list of activities that you enjoyed as a teenager. It could be sports, music, art or writing. List the activities in order one to three based on which you enjoy the most. Once you have created the list, find a way to participate in at least one of the activities per week.
“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass… its about learning to dance in the rain.” - Vivian Greene
The people that are “waking up excited” have the same problems, aches and pains as the rest of us, but they focus on the great in their lives and just get past the bad in their lives.
Starting today, you need to make one day a week a fun day. This means you put everything aside that day except having fun with your loved ones. This will bring you closer to the people you care about and also recharge your battery for the upcoming week.
Fill your day with 20’s
Take a few minutes and rate every task you do on a regular basis from 1-20.
1 = Least favorite thing to do.
20 = Favorite thing to do.
Starting today, you will score your To Do List every day. You must total at least 70 points each day to have a great day.
Deck of cards experiment.
I have assigned a category to each suite in the deck of cards.
Clubs = Food Spades = People
Diamonds = Entertainment Hearts = Places.
At the start of each week, flip one card. Whichever card you flip will be your experiment for the week. For example, if you flipped the 6 of clubs, than you would try 6 new foods that week. 3 of hearts would have you visiting 3 new places that week. Face cards are worth 10 and an Ace is worth 1.
There are 52 cards in the deck and 85 total points per suite. This will allow you to experiment with 85 new foods, people, places, and entertainment in the next 52 weeks.
“Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, ‘it might have been.” - John Greenleaf Whittier
Play to win and nothing less. You must realize that you only have one life and you better get the most out of it.
Today I want you to make contact with the person you admire the most in life. The person you want to be like. Ask if you could possible take a few moments to interview them about their success.
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again. There is no giving up. I want you to make contact and conduct a thorough interview.
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well neither does bathing - that’s why we recommend it daily.” - Zig Ziglar
Write yourself a series of motivational emails. Schedule them to be sent in the future, on random days. Use famous quotes that inspire you, or pictures that move you. Schedule at least 100 emails to yourself. You will certainly enjoy the encouragement when you surprise yourself with one of these emails.
More wagging and less barking!
There are two types of dogs, dogs that wag their tails and dogs that bark. Dogs that wag their tails get treats, long walks, and love from everyone they meet.
Barkers get screamed at, penned up, and not much love.
So stop Barking and start wagging! You will get so much more in return.
“Seize the Day.” Today I want you to call out sick. Skip whatever you have to do today. Today I want you to go climb a mountain, or feed a giraffe, or go skinny dipping in a lake. Do something crazy, something that will make you feel alive. I don’t care what it is, just go do it. Go smell the ocean, go swing on a tree, go dance in the rain. I want you to be able to say “today I Lived.”
Beethoven wrote his 5th symphony when he was completely deaf. Helen Keller went on to become an educator and helped form the ACLU.
Don’t strive for ordinary strive for Extraordinary.
Today I want you to purchase Jim Collin’s book Good to Great. Collins does a wonderful job of explaining the monumental leap from good to great and how you must challenge yourself to be great. Our amazing brains and bodies were not formed to be average or usual, they are formed to be unusual, amazing, exceptional, extraordinary.
