Create a Super Hero Special Effect in Adobe After Effects

Introduction to the Superman Flight effect

Lets Import our footage into After Effects and get it ready.

As this clip is one peice of footage we need to split it up into usable sections to manipulate.

Now we will finalise of clips and set up a freeze frame.

Lets use a technique called rotoscoping to allow us to mask on live footage easily.

As we are concentrating on our flight clip lets finish setting this up.

After reviewing what we have so far we will do some little tweaks to further improve the look.

A slight bit of frame remapping is to be done to speed the initial take off to match the speed of the flight, we will alos add motion blur to give a bit of extra varvoom!

Lets now look at adding a bit of a pulse effect to the clip.

Using the shockwave pulse we will create a displacement effect on our live plate.

Final corrections and exports.

We all love to see giant jumps!!! lets create an epic jump, this is the introduction video to this Tutorial.

As the first footage this is one clip sequence so we need to snip it up into usable sections.

If you are shooting your own video make your life easier by shooting seperate clips!!!

Ok building on our static frame in the last video we will now roto some moving footage to sperate me from the sea in the shot.

Using the rotobrush settings we can tweak it, to get it just right.

OK so we have encountered problem due to the split layers we did earlier lets now fix it.

Using the pen tool to cut out a mask.

As the timing could be better I have recut out our flight scene.

Its always good to have a little clean up on the composite as we go. We will also tackle the landing scene.

Lets now bring the whole shot together.
