Thanks for buying the course! Included is a quick video overview of what you will learn in the course.
In the very first lecture follow along to create an essential part of any epic adventure game or RPG, the Main Menu. Learn how to open a new project and get set up. Draw a basic shape, format shapes for transparency, make 3 buttons with text.
Our main menu looked good in the last lesson but it was missing something... A background! A background is sure to spice it up a bit.
In this lesson build on the shapes you learned last time and use the more advance technique of merging to make entirely new shapes.
We also cover the basics of how to draw your own "flat design" mountains and clouds.
Our menu is coming together and looking great. Now it is time to make those great looking buttons actually function.
Make clickable buttons that preform a function when you click on them with action buttons
Next we need characters for our game. Since we are on a roll, lets draw them completely in PowerPoint. We don't need expensive software or amazing talent for drawing all we need is PowerPoint, a little guidance and some creativity. I will teach you how to draw characters with flat design in PowerPoint.
Now I am going to teach you how to creatively reuse our cloud drawing to make our character look even better with zero extra drawing needed. Also learn about one of the most valuable tools in graphic design the eye dropper tool.
The moment has come. You have your very own character, now for another great part. Putting your character in the story and having him speak for the first time.
Unless you want a one man show it is a good idea to create a second character so they can interact and the story can move along. But lets take a short cut shall we? You know how to draw a character already so lets just change some part around and make them look different rather than starting from scratch.
Now you can have a game with multiple characters interacting, once you know how to do 2 the sky is the limit.
What would any game or any story for that matter, be without emotions? In this lesson, you will learn how to create and use emotions for your character in the story. This will engage your players and get them to connect with your character in the game.
How to create choices in your game to alter the course of the story this is the "choose your own" part of the adventure
A super valuable skill for power point design is removing backgrounds of pictures so you can have any almost picture on any slide. Lets learn how by putting a portal to a different dimension in our game.
So we have learned how our choices change scenes and the course of the story, but what if we wanted a more subtle choice? Like the choice of what to say or ask next. That's what we are going to learn how to do in this lesson.
In this lesson we will do a quick clean-up then I will show you how to export your game as a game not a PowerPoint presentation that someone can edit. Save it as a PowerPoint show
This lecture shows an example of what else you can do with your new found skills. Create a mystery game! Who is the killer? Who is pretending to be a ghost to scare customers away? The choice is yours and that of your players.
I have included a starter pack with everything you see in the video as a PowerPoint slide to get you started. You are welcome to continue to create the adventures of the investigation team and Ruby doo or create your own mystery.
Maybe a cop on his last week before retirement gets involved with a street gang and needs to solve the crime before the clock runs out.. maybe a private investigator does a little too much investigating into a missing husband and finds he is in way over his head.
Use your imagination, I can't wait to see what you create! Please send me a message to let me know what you
In this lesson we learn how to make a villain mask in preparation for questioning the villain and revealing his identity
In this lesson learn two ways of adding audio to your game in order to ask the Villain of your game some important questions and have him respond verbally
In this lesson we learn how to add two animations onto one trigger, how to group objects together, how to reuse resources and how to use an exit animation to reveal the identity of the villain
In this lecture I use all the drawing techniques that I have previously taught you to create a different style of cute character
In this lecture I show you a different style of game that we can create on PowerPoint. A dating simulation. I have included the first slide of the game as a downloadable resource that you can use as a prompt to build your own dating game. Which eligible warlock will your players end up with?
You already know how to create action buttons, choices and dialogue with animations so now you can let your imagination run wild and create the dating sim of your dreams.
Using what we learned in the previous lectures perhaps you could put yourself/celebrities/friends/movie characters the sky is the limit!
