Description
Scratch is a wonderful resource that can build many skills for young learners. Scratch gives students the opportunity to understand how to code using block coding. The process of building a game in Scratch can cross many different areas of the curriculum. Links to Maths, Art, Literacy and Design during this course are referenced. Building a game also requires a higher level of thinking. Students need to be able to problem solve. Students will make mistakes and learn from their mistakes by debugging their coding project. The sense of achievement from Scratch is unparalleled with any other type of learning activity.
This course gives the teacher the opportunity to learn how to implement Scratch in the classroom. The teacher can follow these lectures and recreate them in the classroom linking them to other areas of the curriculum.
This course can also be used for anyone that would like to build a game in scratch and understand some of the basic techniques in doing so.

My educational background goes back to 2005 where I have worked in the UK as a primary school teacher, ICT Co-ordinator and six years in International school supporting the integration of technology in the classroom.
