This is one of our favourite units from our 5-part CPD-Accredited Tutor Training. It's a slow-burner with lots of deep ideas. Take your time and remember: there's always more than one right answer.
We're very strict about our House Rules, and I hope you'll see them modelled throughout the Love Tutoring Community. This is how we set our culture.

If you can get the culture of learning right, then your student will respond. But what is a culture of learning?
What perceptions, attitudes and beliefs are under the surface of your culture iceberg? Your student will respond to what lies beneath.
Now that we've set the culture, we're ready to acquire some strategies. Of course, these are not the only characteristics you might use to build an effective relationship with your student, but they're a great place to start.
Many of us find that positivity comes naturally to us as tutors. But using positivity as a strategy requires being quite mindful about how to get the balance right.
Respect is reciprocal. Before you press play: What does that mean to you?
This is what we've been building up to. It's a culmination of all the thinking over the first 2 Units and will really set your tutoring up for success.
Rachel Botsman's book 'Who Can You Trust?' points out that whilst we no longer trust experts and politicians, we somehow trust Airbnb and Uber. What's changed, and how can we ensure we remain trusted and trustworthy?
This course will give you an understanding of the importance of relationships to learning and how to achieve a positive, respectful and trusting relationship.
The training we provide is easy to understand, with actionable tasks that will enable you to build a code of conduct, how to be friendly and fun as a tutor. You will also engage with fellow learners and learn from them through our engaging tasks that bring you all together.
In this course, we will cover:
