Hello! Welcome to the course. You will have awesome fun and learning in doing this course. We will start with some basics. The first fundamental question is 'what is electricity and what are electric charges'. We will demonstrate how friction creates electric charges. Just relax and watch! No need of any notes making. In the last lecture, you learned about the two kinds of charges. Lets learn about the devices in which we can store electrical energy. We often use them in our daily lives, right!, batteries. Lets learn some basics about batteries and how they produce voltage. We often misunderstand the meaning of voltage. This video will explain its true meaning. Again, no need of any notes making! Here comes the first hands-on activity for you. Take out your multimeter. You are going to measure the voltage of a DC battery. This is the most basic skill you should have if you want to be a great circuit maker. Get, Set and Go!

Well, certainly you know much about voltages. You are ready to learn about electric jolts! In our daily lives, we call this current. What is current? What is its direction? How do we define it? Cool! You have learned about voltage and current. Now, let us learn about resistance. This is quite an interesting video. Here you will learn about what are resistors, how do we define them, how do we identify and read them?

Without Ohm's law, we would never be able to figure out the right specifications of components that we should choose to make a circuit/idea work. Well, we must tell you that you are going at a really good pace. Keep it up. We have a question. Do you think we can control the intensity with which an LED glows using Light? Well, we have an exciting component in this video called LDR (light dependent resistor). Why Wait, Test It.
Ever heard of potentiometers? Well, think of resistors which are variable. Remember those dumb-bell shaped components. Imagine 100s of different resistances that we can get from a single component. Imagine a component which can be used as a fixed resistor, a variable resistor and to create a variable battery which can give you different voltages. Sounds interesting!
Well, this is quite an interesting concept. How can you obtain multiple voltages from a fixed 9 V battery? So, if you can change voltage, you can change current and if you can change current, you can change the intensity with which the LED glows or the loudness of the sound that buzzer produces. You are doing fantastically well! Since now you have worked with one or two LEDs. So, how can you connect multiple LEDs or resistors and divide the electrical energy among them? Here, comes your first Challenger Circuit! You can make this circuit, show it to your friends and brag about being a cool DIY Maker. The best part, you can control the flow of electricity through different coloured LEDs and make an interesting linear pattern- the first set of LEDs glow, then the second and the third and so-on. Its simply cool.
Well, we believe you are almost close to finishing Level-1 in Electronics. Wait! You need to learn something more! Its switches. Switches are a daily part of our lives (nothing to explain here). But, do you know that technically, if we say the switches are on-off devices, it is wrong. Switches are not defined like this.
