Develop a textured brush by adjusting contrast with levels, fading saturation, and saving a black-and-white classical brush in Photoshop, to craft an original, personal digital texture.
Refine your selection with intuitive observation, then refine borders with eraser brushes and layer duplication to enhance edge contrast, while designing and using your own custom brushes as inspiration.
Caution!
Make sure you are not selecting any other tool or brush after you made your settings (in lecture 12), otherwise all the settings will be lost as they are only applied if you make a copy of the brush.
Define a brush preset named leafy west, keep the brush texture intact while resizing, avoid drawing on the original texture, and use the new layer shortcut to fill with color.
Leverage the locked layer method to confine your brushwork to selected areas, using gradients, rectangle shapes, and ctrl+j duplications to quickly build depth and explore iterative, low-detail painting.
Use the lasso select method to block in a wide format composition with a horizon and clouds, balancing obvious shapes with random forms while avoiding over-detail.
Master the black and white method to quickly block out shapes and build structure in digital painting from scratch. Use selections and blocking to spark insights and inspire your process.
Lighten and simplify the plans to make them easier to recognize. Refine the background with tonal balance, temple light, and overlays to enhance readability and depth.
Explore how to distinguish foreground from background, refine composition by mirroring the image, and spot flaws to guide textures, lighting, and color tones in digital painting.
