**COMPUTER-BASED MATHEMATICS USING EXCEL**

Employers around the globe are demanding digital skills especially excel spreadsheet skills in the employment process. These changing requirements of the job market have seen the emergence of a gap between the knowledge generated by the traditional learning management system (LMS) and the skills required by employers worldwide.

The need for graduates from high school, college and university to start jobs with demand driven digital skills is therefore becoming more of a prerequisite for employment all over the world.

This “Computer - Based Mathematics using Excel” is a demand - driven skill course that shows how to translate mathematical formulas into computer language to solve complex digital problems across the globe. Therefore, the central focus is how to learn mathematics through computer. The objective of this course is to equip every educator and student in every school with digital skills and prepare them for employment by showing them how to learn mathematics through computer.

This Skill – Based Course across oceans fosters students’ employability and promotes internationalization by removing obstacles to mobility of labor. The course also strengthens professional development of educators and enable them create blended learning environment.

The course comprises 10 chapters. Chapter 1 provides the Excel Basics that covers Goal Seek, Data Table, Scenario Manager and Data Validation Tools, IF and V-Lookup Functions most frequently used in corporate world. Chapter 2 is step by step computer-based approach to solving Statistics problems. It covers basic Statistics, Binomial Distribution, Poison Distribution, Normal Distribution, T-test, Chi-test, Regression, and Multiple Regression analysis. Chapter 3 deals with Probability Distribution and chapter 4 covers Plane Geometry. Chapter 5 outlines how to use computer to solve Bearings and Vectors problems. Chapter 6 deals with how to use computer language to solve Simultaneous Linear equation with Matrix Operations. Chapter 7 deals with how to use computer language to solve Quadratic Equation problems. Chapter 8 covers Trigonometry. Chapter 9 deals with Logical Reasoning. Chapter 10 deals with Linear Programming using Solver.

## Instructor

Isaac Alormenu is the author and tutor of Computer-Based Mathematics using Excel. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 and received Master of Business Administration Degree (International Finance) from Brandeis University, Massachusetts, USA in 2009. He taught undergraduate courses at Datalink University, Ghana in 2006/2007 academic year, and Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA) one of the premium universities in Ghana in 2015/2016 academic year.

He has facilitated Financial Modeling workshops for The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana from 2010 to 2019. Having worked in the corporate world and academia for over 25 years, Isaac decided to equip every student in every school with relevant digital skills required by employers in the employment process world wide.

In his book "Computer-Based Mathematics" Isaac shows how to use computer specifically Excel Spreadsheet to solve complex mathematical problems. Other books written by Isaac Alormenu include Computer-Based Integrated Science, Computer-Based Economics, Computer-Based Cost Accounting, Computer-Based Financial Accounting and Computer-Based Financial Modeling.

Video tutorial has become important part of education and now the main information delivery mechanism. It is demonstrated that teaching broken down into short video clips facilitate memory recollection.
