CompTIA A+ Certification - 6 Practice Exams

Do you know what makes the A+ hard? It is not memorizing ports. It is reading a thirty-word ticket (a user, a symptom, a constraint), seeing two fixes that both look right, and picking the one the exam wants because a single detail in the stem rules the other one out. That technician judgment is what these six exams train.

The CompTIA A+ certification requires passing two separate exams: Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202). This course gives you 540 original questions: three exams for each core, with the same domain weighting as the real exam and the same demands: 90 questions, 90 minutes, and each exam's own passing score (75% for Core 1, the equivalent of 675 out of 900; 78% for Core 2, the equivalent of 700 out of 900).

WHAT EVERY QUESTION INCLUDES

When you review your results, each of the 540 questions gives you:

• An explanation that starts from the concept and ends with the distinction that decides the answer.
• Feedback on all four options: why the correct one is correct, and which confusion makes each distractor attractive.
• RULE: one memorable sentence with the principle that settles the question.
• TRAP: the exact confusion the question exploits, so you recognize it the next time it shows up.
• CHECK IT: a five-minute exercise you can run on your own computer, with nothing destructive: ipconfig, ping, tracert, nslookup, systeminfo, Get-PhysicalDisk, lsblk, ls -l, a Windows or macOS settings screen, or a manufacturer spec sheet.
• SOURCE: the 220-1201 or 220-1202 objective being tested, plus one or more links to the source that backs the answer: Microsoft Learn, Apple Support, Linux man pages, hardware and printer manufacturers, IETF RFCs, NIST and the free Professor Messer material for CompTIA doctrine.

HOW THE COURSE IS ORGANIZED

Exams 1 to 3 are Core 1 and exams 4 to 6 are Core 2. Within each core, the three exams play different roles:

• Diagnostic (exams 1 and 4): take it before you study. Slightly more accessible than the real exam. It tells you which domains are weak so you can plan your study.
• Full mock exam (exams 2 and 5): real exam level, with the exact domain distribution.
• Traps and nuances (exams 3 and 6): the toughest exam in each core. In every question, the option that tempts you most is the right answer to a slightly different situation, and the constraint in the stem is the only thing that separates them.

Every exam has 78 single-answer questions and 12 multiple-response questions (select two), with randomized order. Evidence-analysis questions (command output, POST and beep codes, SMART status, BIOS/UEFI screens, Event Viewer, NTFS permissions, SOHO router settings, short scripts, help desk tickets) take the place of the PBQs that Udemy cannot reproduce.

WHAT IT COVERS

Core 1 (220-1201), exams 1 to 3:

• 1.0 Mobile Devices (13%): laptop hardware, accessories and connectivity, synchronization and MDM.
• 2.0 Networking (23%): ports and protocols, network hardware, wireless, network services, SOHO configuration, IPv4 and IPv6, connection types and tools.
• 3.0 Hardware (25%): cables and connectors, displays, RAM, storage and RAID, motherboards, CPUs, power supplies, cooling and printers.
• 4.0 Virtualization and Cloud Computing (11%): virtual machines, hypervisors, cloud models and characteristics.
• 5.0 Hardware and Network Troubleshooting (28%): motherboards, RAM, CPU and power; storage; video; mobile devices; printers and networks.

Core 2 (220-1202), exams 4 to 6:

• 1.0 Operating Systems (28%): Windows, macOS and Linux, tools and commands, Windows editions, installation and upgrades, file systems, Settings and Control Panel, Windows networking and applications.
• 2.0 Security (28%): physical security, accounts and passwords, Windows Security, BitLocker, NTFS and share permissions, malware removal, social engineering, SOHO security and browsers.
• 3.0 Software Troubleshooting (23%): Windows problems, mobile devices, mobile security and malware symptoms.
• 4.0 Operational Procedures (21%): documentation and ticketing, change management, backups, personal and environmental safety, licensing and privacy, professional communication, scripting, remote access and AI.

HOW THE QUESTIONS ARE BUILT

• Short CompTIA-style scenarios set in sixteen fictional Latin American organizations (an accounting firm, a dental clinic, a school, a boutique hotel, a five-branch hardware store, a call center, a city hall, a rural co-op), so the context is recognizable without padding the stem.
• Each question tests one concrete fact from an objective, with a strong distractor that is correct in a neighboring situation. Correct letters are evenly distributed and the correct option is not the longest: there are no shortcuts.
• Every answer rests on a base of more than 2,000 facts verified against official sources, and no question depends on data that ages (prices, product models, Windows builds).
• Every question went through an independent adversarial review, and every rewritten question through a second one, looking for disputable keys, factual errors and duplicates across exams.

BEFORE YOU BUY

• This is a practice course: it does not teach the theory from scratch. If you have not studied the objectives yet, start with a course, book or video and come back here to measure and consolidate.
• Udemy cannot reproduce the PBQs of the real exam. Here they are replaced by evidence-analysis questions, which train the same reading skill but are not interactive simulations.
• The course follows A+ V15 (220-1201 and 220-1202). When CompTIA releases the next version, the bank will be updated.
• The questions are written in American English, with Windows, macOS and Linux tools named as they appear in the English interface.

HOW I RECOMMEND USING IT

Prepare one core at a time. Take its diagnostic cold, before studying, and look at the report by domain. Study the weak domains. Take the mock exam against the clock, in one sitting, and review every question you missed by reading the RULE and the TRAP, not just the answer. Once you are above 85% on the mock, take on traps and nuances. If you clear that one too, book that exam and repeat the process with the other core.
