If you are looking for a comprehensive piano course to learn everything about piano, this is the one. In each section of the course I walk you through the steps needed to learn each skill and I tried to sequence the material so that each lesson prepares you for the next. My goal is for you to learn how to learn. As a piano teacher with 40 students I know the importance of practice steps and having a plan to work through each musical challenge and this course is my process to help musicians go from where they are to where they want to be.
This course is called "Comprehensive" because it covers all the skills that beginning pianists need to know and "Level 1" because it covers everything taught in the first semester of undergraduate group piano courses. Anyone can benefit from this course and it is not specific to group piano courses or undergraduate music majors, I just follow that same syllabus outline in the sections of this course.
I designed this course to meet a need and to help people Every time I have taught group piano classes I get frustrated at the huge learning curve my first semester students face. I see that they want to learn to play the piano but have not ever been taught any of the skills needed to succeed in the class, and then when they are forced to learn everything at the same time they can get overwhelmed and feel discouraged. I used to wish there were a way for them to learn these skills at their own pace before encountering all the added stress of university studies. Finally I decided to make demonstration video tutorials for all the skills taught in the entire semester course so they can either test out of the group piano course or at least be prepared and understand the concepts before trying to earn a passing grade.
I teach the same concepts presented in Alfred's Group Piano For Adults textbook, but this will also work if you are using the Hilley or some other textbook.
You can view a few sample lessons on my YouTube channel if you like.
