What you'll learn

  • Identify and use various pneumatic control valves & actuators in a factory environment
  • Analyse the pneumatic circuits for troubleshooting
  • Develop pneumatic logic circuits from start to operation
  • Read and Understand Pneumatic Symbols and Functions

Course content

5 sections11 lectures50m total length
  • Introduction to Compressed Air System and Uses5:03

Trace the compressed air route from intake filtration through compression, drying, and storage, to distribution pipes and frl units, then apply air with directional control valves, actuators, and cylinders.

  • Why Choose Compressed Air5:23

Explore why compressed air is popular: readily available, reversible and safe, easy to control and distribute with FRL units, yet costly to prep and less precise due to air compressibility.

Requirements

  • No specific requirements, but ideally basic knowledge pneumatics or some exposure to a factory environment

Description

This course aims to provide a thorough understanding of pneumatic concepts through a combination of theoretical foundations, practical simulations, and troubleshooting techniques relevant to a factory environment. It is specifically designed for artisans, including millwrights, electricians, fitters, instrument technicians, toolmakers, technicians, and technical colleges or University of Technology students therefore catering to both beginners and those looking to enhance their skills.

The knowledge gained can be immediately applied to even address an immediate factory downtime or stoppages. Participants will learn about the functions of compressors, dryers, air receivers, FRL units, directional control valves (DCVs), and actuators, along with skills in reading pneumatic drawings and troubleshooting pneumatic circuits in a factory setting.

Basic pneumatic symbols are introduced through a series of instructional videos that improve understanding of the relevant components in pneumatic circuits, accompanied by appropriate questions. The core principles of pneumatic circuit construction are clearly outlined in the videos focused on directional control valves.

The course further explores various pneumatic circuits commonly used in the industry such as FMCG,Plastic,Poultry,Packaging,Metal which the instructor has worked with including those used to control pneumatic cylinders and other actuators. Circuits utilizing AND, OR, and sequencing logic gates are developed from scratch using FluidSIM, facilitating a deeper understanding from design to simulation. Each topic is reinforced with related questions to enhance the learning experience.

Who this course is for:
