In this quick lecture, we define the scope of this course. We will cover all the modules of the cloud version of Cognos Analytics. That is more than enough for the beginner level and you can become pretty advanced in these topics.

In this lecture you learn how to create a new data module based on a relational data base. A relational database is a way of organizing data into structured tables (rows and columns) where each table represents an entity, and relationships between tables are defined using keys (like primary and foreign keys). It allows efficient querying, updating, and management of data using a standard language like SQL. Relational Databases represent the majority of databases out there and are essential to learn. When creating a data module we need to understand data content that are in tables and the relationships among tables so we can ask the right questions and create the right visualizations.

Exploration is an environment to try and error with your data to create meaningful insight. You will have a lot of flexibility here to dive deep in  the data and come up with business intelligence. We create our first exploration in Cognos here in this video.
