Hello, my name is Bradley Lynch and I run USONGWRITER - a platform for teaching people the art of songwriting. I’ve written songs which have received airplay on UK national radio & TV, as well as at Manchester United Football Club.

“Like a lone voice in the dark.” Steve Lamacq, BBC6 Music

“Sounding excellent.” John Kennedy, Radio X

Are you struggling to write songs on your own? This course will allow you to write full songs, starting with learning how to write each of the main elements that make up a song: chord progressions, melodies and lyrics. Then we’ll bring everything together in a final song project where you’ll write a full song. You’ll be able to call yourself a songwriter and feel confident about it.

In this course I will teach you everything you need to know about song writing, as we go into the DNA of chord progressions, melodies and lyric writing so that you can use this knowledge to write your own. There’ll be examples and demonstrations throughout to clarify what you are learning.

At the end of each Section is an exercise for you to put what you’ve learnt into practise and start rewiring your brain into a songwriting machine.

There are also pdf transcripts for each Section that include all of the lessons within them for further clarity and easy reference. These also include resources such as a full list of all of the keys and chords within them, as well as links to other helpful resources that will aid your learning and strengthen your understanding.

This course is for beginners. You do not need any previous knowledge of songwriting. We will start right at the beginning and work our way through step by step. In the aforementioned final song project, you’ll write a full song along with me using the same process.

You’ll be equipped with a structure and framework for starting and finishing songs. There’ll also be general creativity exercises to prevent and break through writer’s block, as well as specific songwriting practices.
