What you'll learn

After completing the course, the student will know how to describe past event and tell stories, communicate with the doctor and at a shop, ask for help and advice and learn the use of the different past tenses. This will allow them to keep longer conversations and make requests in case of need.

Welcome to the course Communicate in Spanish for Low Intermediate! I am very happy to have you in this course.

The course is structured in Sections that include lessons. Most of the sections cover a specific communication function, with lessons that present the content in a video; this content are the Grammar, Vocabulary, use of the language and examples that are necessary for you to achieve the goal of the section. Remember that this goal will always be to be able to communicate in a specific situation or when you have a specific need.

Some of the sections that include videos with the content also include a downloadable document where the grammar and vocabulary are explained in more depth and that will be useful for you to study the content on your own. Some Sections include a test or exercise to assess your learning.

There are also some sections that consist of listening exercises in the form of a presentation with an audio, where you have to fill in blanks while listening and while you learn more vocabulary. With these exercises you will improve your listening skills and you will have the opportunity to practice the grammar presented in other parts of the course.

In this lesson and in the the following ones in the section you will learn a new past tense, that is used to talk about past actions that we bring back to the past and with which we use specific time references.

Watch the video of each lesson, and then refer to the downloadable material included in the last lesson where you will find the grammar explained in detail. After this, there is a test included to assess your learning.

In this section you will learn how to ask for assistance when you go to a shop. Expressions and vocabulary about clothing, sizes and other words are presented, with examples of conversations.

In the second lesson, the concept of the direct object, which appears in the conversations at the shop and that is an important part of a sentence, will be presented.

In this section we will deepen in the grammar about the direct object and the pronouns used.

In the first lesson the direct object is presented and in the second one, the direct object will be compared with the indirect one. Right now it is important for you to be able to use the direct object correctly. There is a downloadable document in this first lesson where you can find the explanation of the Direct Object, the pronouns used and the way the sentence has to be constructed.

In this lesson you will learn a new past tense. It is a type of simple past that is used for something quite different than the other two past tenses you already know. Though the difference in the use is quite clear, it might be still tricky to figure out when to use it, as there is no equivalent of this tense in many other languages.

There is a video where I present this new verb tense. Once you have watched it, go to the downloadable material included in the lesson, where you will find the grammar for you to study.

In the last section there is a test to assess your understanding of all the past tenses you have learned so far.

Requirements

Students need to have a basic knowledge of Spanish. It is recommended that they know how to introduce themselves, speak of what they do for a living and in their free time and use the present tense.

This is the course Communicate in Spanish for Low Intermediate.

If you inscribe, you will learn to speak and understand to achieve specific goals in many different situations. You will be able to keep longer conversations.

You will learn to talk about past actions and events, what you did yesterday or during your holidays, or speak about someone´s life or biography. You will also learn how to speak to your doctor if you are sick, how to ask for help or favors in different contexts and also what to say if you need help from a shop assistant in a shop.These are some of the things you will learn.

The content is presented through video lessons with the grammar explanations mainly in English, and there are also listening exercises and tests to assess your learning. All the verbs, grammar and vocabulary necessary to communicate in these situations are presented and put in many examples and types of resources.

In order to get the most of this course it is recommended to have some basic knowledge of Spanish, mainly how to introduce yourself, the present tense and how to speak about what you do.

This is a straightforward course with lots of resources to learn to speak and understand in many life situations.
