Thanks so much for your interest in this festive mandolin course!
In this course, we’ll explore five beautiful and well-loved Christmas carols together:
Deck the Halls
Silent Night
In Dulci Jubilo
Joy to the World
Ding Dong Merrily on High
Each tune is broken down step by step, and you’ll have the option to play along with guitar backing tracks for a more immersive experience.
While the course is Christmas-themed, it also gently stretches your musicianship—developing your musical ear through ensemble playing, and strengthening your sight-reading skills. I guide you through each carol by counting the beats and using rhythm mnemonics to make the timing easy to follow.
This course assumes you’re comfortable reading basic tab. If you're brand new to the mandolin, you might want to start with my Beginner Mandolin Course first.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
· Play five festive carols
· Jam along with guitar accompaniment
· Begin exploring chord-melody playing (introduced in Joy to the World)
Joy to the World also offers a gentle introduction to combining melody and chords—something I cover more deeply in my other course Play Chords and Melodies at the Same Time on Mandolin. So if you’ve taken my previous courses, this one builds on those skills and helps boost your confidence further.
If that sounds good to you, grab your mandolin, get tuned up, and let’s make some merry music together!
