When you want to build a company from scratch, or a project team you must carefully plan your strategy for Choosing Effective Team.

Building an effective team is more challenging than it looks.

It is a big responsibility because the team you choose are the biggest factor to determine if you would be successful.

Behind every success, there is an Effective Team. And as a leader, it is your job to assure that you have effective team members you can always rely on.

  • Session 1 -Knowing What You Need16:27

Some of the most tragic appointments have been those which were made in a hurry, with no clear idea of the importance of the job that to be filled, nor what sort of person would be suitable for. this approach is a disaster from the start because it has three fatal flaws:

First, it neglects to describe the key tasks.

Second, it fails to specify what sort of person would be most suitable.

Third, it assumes that there is a job and should be filled in immediately.

The decision to recruit is required in two situations:

When a person moves on to a new position or leaves the company.

When an increased workload indicates that a new job should be created.

When someone has left, the temptation is to look for another person just like the previous one. This is a mistake.

  • Session 2 -Analyzing and shortlisting based on facts16:58

The ideal result of your advertisement would be to get one applicant who is the best person to do the job. But this is rarely happening.

Depending on the job advertisement, you will usually get more people applying than you can handle.

So, you need to choose as to how many, and which ones to see.

Hiring managers face recruiting challenges that make their job tough.

  • Session 3 - Managing the discussion16:33

You have done an excellent job of attracting, pre-screening, and shortlisting candidates.

Now for the last step in the process is how to conduct a discussion or interview.

Let us face it, conducting a discussion does not come naturally for many hiring managers.

Hiring managers often discuss in an unstructured manner.

They do not know how to ask appropriate questions. Some of the hiring managers are unable to understand candidate responses.

Since the stakes are high in building an effective team, the hiring manager should know how to conduct a discussion the right way.

  • Session 4 - Questioning, and Listening19:07

Garbage in, garbage out is a popular truth, often said about computer systems: if you put the wrong information in, you will get the incorrect information out.

The same principle applies to questioning and listening: if you ask the wrong questions to a candidate, you will probably get the wrong answer.

Asking the right question is the heart of effective, evaluation and can improve a whole range of assessments of the candidate.

You can also learn more about the candidate and manage the selection process more effectively.

Listening requires attention. Hiring managers need to listen attentively to understand the candidate.

  • Session 5 - Assessing the right Candidate18:54

Assessing and choosing the candidates is never easy. Now, with remote hiring on the rise, it has become crucial than ever. But whether you conduct a virtual discussion or an in-person assessment, the challenges are the same.

Assessing and choosing the right candidate for an open position is a lot like putting a puzzle together.

Even with all the right pieces in front of you, it is crucial to decide between multiple candidates, especially when all likely candidates are highly qualified.
