    In the ChatGPT Playground, you have more adjustable settings. For this course, we're not going to change the mode or the model.

    Temperature - we’ll set this to 1.


    Temperature and Top P - both control randomness but don’t need to adjust the Top P setting.


    Maximum length - refers to the number of tokens used.


    Tokens - Limits the length of requests to prevent users from asking ChatGPT to write a ten-thousand-page novel all at once. Four letters cost around one token. At the bottom of the page in the gray, you’ll see how many tokens are being used. Tokens take into account the prompts you’re typing as well as the answer that ChatGPT responds with. So, you'll likely adjust this slider as you become more familiar with it.


    Frequency - This instructs the AI not to repeat things that have already been mentioned above.


    Presence - Tells the AI to change the topic if it can. Like a cue to change the subject.
