
Welcome to this course; Imagine and shape where we will learn how to design conceptual designs quickly and intuitively. The CATPART files required to perform the exercises shown in this course are attached in the resources section of this lecture. So let's begin!
This lecture introduces you to the various toolbars available in IMA namely Creation, Modification, Styling Surfaces, Modification, Operatios and Shape analysis. This lecture also gives you some instruction about selecting Mesh elements for modification.
Check out some settings related to Mesh and display.
Curve is the fundamental geometric entity of any shape. In this lecture you will learn to create a curve and perform different operations on the curve.
To work in Imagine and shape you will need primitives first. This is the first step of this workbench. The primitives are nothing but the standard shapes available which can be deformed or modified as we want. These are the 'Subdivision Surfaces.'
We have seen revolve options many times in CATIA e.g. in Part design (Shaft command), in Generative shape design. Here also we have revolve option to make revolved subdivision surface.
Extrude makes a subdivision surface passing through the points we select.
Net surface option is used to create a subdivision surface using a set of curves. These curves can be of any type that is IMA curves, 3D curves, border of a surface etc.
This lecture shows you one more example of Net surface.
While working on some design in Imagine and shape you will need the translation, rotation and other commands in Modification tool palette a lot of times.
Compass can be manipulated as we want. This lecture shows you how to manipulate the compass.
Affinity is used to scale the models just like the affinity in Part Design. Attraction allows you to make the edges of the models sharp or smooth and can be given fillets.
This lecture shows you how to align surface with line, plane etc.
Dimension option allows sizing of the subdivision surfaces.
We can give draft angle to the subdivision surfaces
When there are number of subdivision surfaces and if you want to modify more than one or all of them, you can use multiselection option.
You can link two elements so that by changing one element you can change other element e.g. by manipulating single curve you can change the shape of subdivision surface.
Symmetry produces mirror copy of the subdivision surface about selected symmetry plane. By using Working zone definition we can work on specific region of the entire mesh and hide the rest of the mesh.
This lecture shows you one more example of Working zone definition.
Until now we have seen how to modify subdivision surfaces by adjusting the mesh elements. In Styling surfaces toolbar we have the options to make changes in the mesh itself.
In this lecture you will see how to merge two subdivision surfaces.
Extrusion option is used for various applications and in different way. This lecture contains CATPART files for exercise.

We can add sections in the mesh by using Face cutting.
Imagine and shape is all about subdivision surfaces. Face subdivision is used to subdivide a plane. Erasing option is used to erase or remove a particular region of a surface or edges of the mesh.
Entire mesh can be cut by using a plane with the help of this option.
