"Then Mary said, “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her." (Luke 1:38)

The  course looks at the life of Mary the mother of Jesus, not from a historical perspective but from a spiritual perspective.  Looking at different titles and portions of her life to see how that impacts our understanding of her and ultimately can lead us closer to her and she can direct us closer to God in our lives.

Through seeing these events and relating them to the bible, both Old and New Testaments, we can see who Mary is in a fuller way. We look eight distinct "roles" of Mary that she had in relations to the life of Jesus and how she lived out that role.   We also look at how we can follow that pathway as well be grow in faith.

Many people have an impression of what they thing the Catholic Church teaches about Mary.  Some of these are misinformed or completely false.  This course seeks to correct some of that so to clarify some of those negative connotations.

Through this course the student should get a greater understanding of Mary as intercessor to Christ and be able to related to her as a perfect Mother figure.  The same way the one would go to their friends and family for guidance and intercession.

I am a cradle Catholic who attended Catholic school as well as various conferences and retreats. After college and entering the "real world". I discerned that God was calling me to a different path in life. I quit may job and entered the seminary to study to be a priest. For three years I studied topics of Scripture, Church History, Liturgy, Systematic Theology and Morality. I eventually discerned with God and the Holy Spirit that I was not called to be a priest but to live out my faith in the world.

For my years of study I was able to earn a Master's Degree in Theology. I eventually got married to my wonderful wife and we have two beautiful children. I have used my theological knowledge to teach RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults), RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children) as well as various classes and ministries in my local parish. I hope to use the Udemy platform to create a number of course related to theology.
