We thank you for enrolling in ultimate pen and ink art; your support unites thousands of students across more than 50 countries, while Timmy's algorithms prompt a five-star review.
Learn essential drawing tools, from 110‑pound card stock and white or toned paper to vellum for inking, plus circle tools, a see‑through ruler, and lead holders for detail.
Learn how to use the t-square to draw perpendicular or parallel lines with a built-in ruler and portable, adjustable t-shaped guide for precise alignment on a drawing board.
Learn to use a fountain pen, from handling the cap and clip to filling with converters or cartridges, cleaning with water, priming for ink flow, and switching inks.
Master how to prepare a palette of ink dilutions from 100% black to 50% and beyond by mixing with water, dipping the pen, and washing the brush for flexible shading.
Explore micron pens in sizes 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 for archival, consistent lines. Compare Sharpie blocking for large areas, brushes for watercolor-like shading, and grayscale gradient variations for efficient inking.
Discover how opaque white paint helps cover ink mistakes with two thick coats that match your paper, and consider white gel pens like Jelly Roll or Sigma.
Learn to upgrade from 100-pound card stock to Strathmore 300 series Bristol for archival, acid-free, bleed-resistant ink on a smooth 11 by 17 surface.
Choose premium brushes with springy bristles that hold their shape, and learn brush sizes, like number two for fine lines and number eight for broader strokes.
Explore how micron pens create thin to thick line weights, add depth and a drop-shadow effect, and maintain consistency across a drawing using a chosen toolbox.
Explore how one hundred and ten pound card stock paper provides a thicker, sturdier surface than normal cartridge paper, for pen and ink, letting tools glide and resist digging.
Learn to ink Popeye with brush pen outlines, fill the shirt, refine details with Micron 0.5 and graphic pen, add lettering and a lemon drop shadow, and erase pencil lines.
Open a scanned jack rabbit line work in Photoshop, then clean up imperfections on a multiply layer with a white brush and eyedropper for exact paper color.
Learn to clean up line art and remove white to create a transparent background. Color the jack rabbit using separate layers and color adjustments for clean, scalable art.
Scan your pencil drawing with a scanner or camera, adjust advanced settings to 600 DP, tweak brightness and contrast, and save as a PSG or JPEG for digital work.
Learn digital pen and ink techniques in Photoshop by layering inks on a separate layer, using pressure-sensitive brushes, and applying hatching, including borders.
Learn to create dimensional ink with shadowed lines and thick base shadows, keep inks on one layer, plan the subject’s profile, and back up work to leave space for color.
Master digital ink by building contours with dots and cross-hatching to reveal dragon form, using blue guides and layered pencils, while saving work and refining light, color, and textures.
Develop the enchantress as the focal point by detailing rock and ground textures, chains, and capes, using shading, hatching, and color to guide the viewer's eye.
Learn to turn simple shapes into believable cartoon characters by transforming a circle head into a sphere, shaping a rounded body, and bending arms and legs into curved cylinders.

TIMELESS SKILLS
No previous drawing knowledge is required.
In this course I will take you through an exploration of drawing with ink. I will teach you about many of the popular tools of the trade (pens, inks, and brushes) and weigh popular brands against each other with real demos so you can decide which tools suit your style best.
I will then demonstrate how to create crisp pen lines and teach you how to become a skillful at popular pen techniques such as hatching, crosshatching, stippling, line weights, and washes. I will show you how to draw ink lines over my simple cartoon characters to get you into the groove so you can get a grasp of things before getting too complex. Once I have gotten you to the point where you are familiar with the inking process on paper I have included a digital inking section where I use Photoshop to create inked lines. If you love color, I have added a bonus section to show you how to add digital colors to your lines (whether you did them on paper or Photoshop) and add that all-familiar shading style seen in anime, known as cel-shading. You won't find this anywhere else!
To sweeten the deal, I have provided an ebook for you with this course that includes exercise worksheets to boost your skills.
By the end of this course you will be able to create an inked piece of art that has an unmistakable finished quality!
