In this lesson, you will learn how to identify the actions you need to take to land your promotion, plan and schedule your actions. If you are failing to plan, then it is as good as planning to fail.
To advance in your career, you’ll need to learn to advocate for yourself. There is a degree of self-promotion that’s needed. Put simply - if you don’t ask, you may not get. In this lesson, you will learn how to prepare for the conversation with your managers and ask for your promotion.
When it's time for discussing specifically about your promotion, you have to document your achievements and build your case. You cannot assume your boss would be aware of all your achievements. You have to build a compelling case for why you deserve to be moved up. In this lesson, you will learn how to build your case for the promotion.
In this lesson, you will learn how to initiate a conversation with your manager/boss about your promotion. You will learn how to prepare for the conversation, and how to put it across to your boss. You will know the possible outcomes of the conversation and how you will have to deal with them.
Getting denied for a promotion can make you feel terrible, may be even angry. But the fact is, no matter how valuable you are, promotions rarely happen overnight. It does not necessarily mean that your boss doesn't like you, or that the company doesn't recognize your contributions. It's vital that you don't demonstrate your displeasure.
