Starting with a light pencil is always a good idea. This gives us room to adjust as we go if we make any mistakes along the way.
Once we are happy with our proportions, we can start to design our car and make it unique.
You don't really need many markers to create a rendering. You can use one marker to create different shades by using marker layering.
Marker layering works similar to painting a car in real life. The more layers of paint, the deeper the color and reflections.
Adding contrast is important because it helps "plant" the car to the ground and give visual feedback on the design.
Wheels can be a bit tricky and time consuming. Here's one way I like to sketch wheels that saves me time.
Depending on if we want the car to be glossy or satin, we adjust our marker work accordingly. For strong highlights, I use white ink.
Even though we are sketching this car in side view, we still have to consider the perspective.
Sharpen up those lines before calling it complete! It makes a big difference.
Hi, Marouane here,
In this course, you will learn the simple techniques on how to sketch a car using analog tools.
We are going to focus on a side view of a sports car and you will look over my shoulder as we go from initial line work with a pencil to get the proportions and design right.
Then we will apply markers. Now, I want to keep this class simple so that anyone can get awesome results from it even if you haven't touched a marker before.
We are using cool grey markers for this course and we are only going to use 3-4 different shades.
As a final step, we will add highlights and "burn points" using a white ink pen to really make the glossy surface stand out.
This class if for you who like to learn some cool tricks on how to use markers. These techniques can be applied to any type of design sketches such as industrial design, fashion design and more.
Let's have some fun!
See you inside :)
